Enquirer names Greater Cincinnati high school athletes of the week, Dec. 15

In a vote that ended Dec. 15, Cincinnati.com readers selected the Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Athletes of the Week from high school sports action through Dec. 10.

Fall winners through Oct. 20 should have received their certificates, which recently were sent to the athletic departments. The remaining certificates will be mailed at the end of December.

The Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Athlete of the Week voting occurs during all high school sports seasons and recognizes athletes across all sports. Here are this week's winners.

Ohio boys basketball team: Batavia – Batavia has won four of five to open the season after beating Finneytown, Wilmington and Clermont Northeastern.

Ohio girls basketball team: Georgetown – Georgetown picked up three victories to improve to 5-1 overall, beating Bethel-Tate 48-36, East Clinton 37-21 and St. Bernard-Elmwood Place 57-20.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball team: Holy Cross – Holy Cross defeated Bishop Brossart 67-55 on Dec. 6.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball team: Notre Dame – The Pandas are 6-0 after adding wins over Conner, St. Ursula and Southwestern.

Boys winter team: Anderson bowling – The Raptors beat Loveland and Mount Healthy to improve to 5-0 in matches before finishing as runner-up as the No. 7 seed in the Holiday Classic.

Girls winter team: Georgetown bowling – Georgetown moved to 4-0 overall and in the SBAAC after beating Williamsburg 1,954-1,495.

Ohio big-school boys basketball: Henry Maginn, Oak Hills – He scored 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting, 4-of-5 from 3-point range and had seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in the Highlanders’ 67-28 win over Northwest.

Ohio small-school boys basketball: Conner McElfresh, Batavia – He helped the Bulldogs to a 3-0 week with 10 points and nine rebounds in a 52-43 win over Finneytown, and 19 points in a 49-44 win over Clermont Northeastern.

Ohio big-school girls basketball: Cylee Leggett, Walnut Hills – The senior guard scored a game-high 21 points in a win over Turpin. She also had six rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.

Ohio small-school girls basketball: Kaylee Williams, Deer Park – She posted a double-double of 14 points, 12 rebounds, six steals and three assists in a win over Finneytown.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys basketball: Nate Rominger, Holy Cross – He had 27 points on 12-of-14 shooting plus 12 rebounds in a 67-55 win over Bishop Brossart.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls basketball: Izelee Kerns, Conner – She shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the field to score 10 points in a win over Owen County.

Ohio boys bowler: Javen Gragston, Wyoming – He shot games of 236 and 173 to lead the Cowboys to a 56-pin win over Taylor in CHL play.

Ohio girls bowler: Anne Weber, Ursuline – The junior bowled a 143 and a 185 against Mount Notre Dame for a Lions’ win.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys bowler: Brayden Coleman, Highlands – He shot a 276 in the Bluebirds’ 6-1 win over Scott, the high game in Northern Kentucky so far this year.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls bowler: Lyssa Mullins, Dayton – She shot a 187 in the Greendevils’ loss to Newport Central Catholic.

Gymnast: Abby Dittmann, Turpin – Dittmann won the all-around competition and was first on the beam. Dittmann also placed third on the bars and fourth in the floor competition.

Ice hockey player: Henry Ropp, St. Xavier – The senior had four goals as the Bombers went 2-0. Ropp had a hat trick on Saturday and added another goal during Sunday’s game bringing his season total to nine goals.

Ohio boys swimmer/diver: Ryan Corson, La Salle – He won the 200-yard freestyle and finished third in the 100-yard backstroke at South Dearborn.

Ohio girls swimmer/diver: Aubrey Buchanan, St. Ursula – The freshman won the 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, and was on two winning relays at the St. Henry Winter Invitational, helping the Bulldogs to a first-place team finish.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys swimmer/diver: Cono Presti, Beechwood – He took second place in the 500-yard freestyle at Scott.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls swimmer/diver: Gabrielle Lee, Beechwood – She finished as the runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley and took fourth place in the 100-yard breaststroke at Scott.

Boys wrestler: Rider Trumble, Ryle – Trumble was a winner at the Raider Rumble and earned the Most Outstanding Wrestler award as voted on by the coaches.

Girls wrestler: Caroline Davis, Ross – The freshman clinched the 120-pound title at Hammer and Anvil, winning all matches by pin including the final that lasted just 10 seconds.

Boys archer: Kayson Stone, Cooper - He shot 288 and finished in first place at the Cooper Shoot Out while leading his team to a third-place finish.

Girls archer: Emily Paul, Simon Kenton – She shot 294 and finished in first place at the Summit View Academy Tournament while leading her team to a 3rd place finish.
