The missing Army-issued Galil assault rifle has been found five (5) days after it reportedly disappeared from the Teteron Barracks in Chaguaramas. According to reports, Officers of the Western Division, acting on information, visited Macqueripe around 12:00 PM today (Friday 9th June 2023), where the weapon was found,
Four (4) persons were arrested since the weapon's disappearance on Saturday (3rd June 2023). However, investigators are said to have narrowed down their focus to two (2) suspects — a soldier and a civilian — and are expected to meet with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) this afternoon.
On Sunday it was reported that the soldier, who was on duty at Teteron Barracks, Chaguaramas, had lost the weapon earlier that morning. Despite several searches of the base and its surroundings, the rifle was not found until today.
Investigations are continuing. More on this as it becomes available. [Source: Newsday] Share to Facebook Share to TwitterWe are a small operation.
