Very sad news. DM must get their news right; it says Welikada as heading and then says Welikanda. The are two different places, after all. This is not the first time that DM has given confusing news.

"Defender" is a Land Rover model name, not a type of vehicle. The vehicle type is jeep, and the headline must be about a "jeep" crashing. Nevertheless in another place it says "defender car". So pathetic reporting and writing. School children write better.

They don't call this the 'daily error' for no reason..

Sri Lanka has a disastrous road traffic laws that are broken where even the police accept people driving on the wrong side, continously cutting up people.. its a disgrace for tourism.. Its a reflection on the caracteristics of the population.. WE NEED TO ENFORCE STRICT SPOT FINES AND BAN DRIVERS WHO WRECKLESSLY DRIVE ON ROADS STARTING WITH BUS DRIVERS WHO RACE TO GET TO THEIR DEPOT.

Lost control is due to speeding. Sad situation. The driver must be court marshalled for indiscipline driving

Nice reporting. These rascals must have been driving at break neck arrogant speed like they normally do. Fate taught them a lesson. In the end, public compensate for all this indiscipline.

High likelihood the vehicle was speeding. The tread of the front vehicle looks good, and of course it was maintained well. Glad they hadn't harmed any other persons with the vehicle.

The vehicle seems to be intact. If that vehicle had seat belts some of the occupants could have survived. A golf pro. who crashed and rolled his SUV three times down a hill survived because he wore his seat belts.

Is this jeep produced in India ?

Damn good. These buggers should die like this for reckless driving. Thank God this fellow was killed instead of taking an innocent person’s life.

Very sad news and it has to be noted that the forces personnel tend to drive their vehicles very fast contrary to the traffic laws and causes harm to themselves as well as the general public.

Defender failed to defend the occupants.

Fatigue, continuous driving without sleep or rest could make you sleep without one's knowledge that causes accidents. Every driver should take 15 minutes rest after 2 hours of drive.

    Terrence Sunday, 23 October 2022 02:35 PM

This is not the first time Defenders with Army Personnel have crashed. These defenders speed recklessly like maniacs without any concern for other road users. They also feel that the world is coming to an end and these disasters snatch young lives. The authorities should instill discipline when driving these vehicles and drivers who violate should be court martialed

Concerned Citizen Monday, 24 October 2022 05:35 AM

Primary cause is speeding, and that shows in the picture. These military personnel are known speed law violators, they drive as if the road belongs to their grand mother. If there was a bystander for some reason he would have been killed for no fault of its own. Its a good thing the passengers were killed not anyone else, this third world military needs discipline and their budget cutoff.
