If you are reading this newsletter, you likely love Lawn Fawn as much as we do here at Firefly Farm!

Firefly Farm opened in 2017 and is our brick-and-mortar store in SE Minnesota (Pine Island). In 2022, we opened our Fox Forest Retreat Center just across the road.

Lawn Fawn has always been one of our most popular brands due to our large Lawn Fawn inventory, new release promotions, and many classes we have held with guest designer/teacher Jenn Shurkus and our staff member Lyndsay Breid. Fun fact- Jenn and Lyndsay met in 2005 when they were both on the A Muse Artstamps design team.

Before 2020, Jenn visited us twice a year and taught adorably wicked card classes at Firefly Farm. In April 2020, we introduced our first virtual event, a crop in the box. These gained popularity, and soon, we offered our very first Creative Crate, a crafty experience with gifts of new products, class kits, and much more (all taking place on a private Facebook group). Jenn taught amazing Lawn Fawn classes at our first 8 Creative Crates and took the summer of 2023 off (if you know Jenn, you know that her inner mermaid needed a summer to do all of the mermaid-y things). We welcomed Jenn back to our 11th Creative Crate in February 2024, and we can now announce that she will be back teaching (virtually) at Creative Crates 12 and 13. Hooray!

The pandemic was rough, but the silver lining was how our virtual events connected us with amazing (and crafty) customers from around the world. Even though we are back to offering in-person events at Firefly Farm and Fox Forest, we are happy to continue our virtual events.

We have our first Fawn Fest in May, which includes exclusive card designs by Jenn and Lyndsay with the May 16th Lawn Fawn release (see the details below). We are also offering a Creative Crate in June and August, and Jenn Shurkus will teach an exclusive Lawn Fawn card class in both. The Creative Crates include other class kits from some of our favorite brands and teachers, so be sure to check out those details.

With the opening of our Fox Forest Retreat Center, we were able to host our first Lawn Fawn Soiree in October of 2022. This is an all-inclusive experience with classes from Jenn Shurkus and Lyndsay Breid. Our Soiree guests loved taking their Lawn Fawn classes - each with their unique design style. We also offered Jenn's classes at Firefly Farm during the Soiree weekend. We hosted our second Soiree in the fall of 2023 and decided to switch the Soiree to a spring event. Jenn will be back this May, and although the Soiree is sold out, we have spots available in her classes at Firefly Farm.

Lawn Fawn Classes with Jenn Shurkus

at Firefly Farm | Pine Island Minnesota

We are thrilled to welcome Jenn Shurkus back to Firefly Farm in person for the ninth time! We will offer Jenn's classes at the lower level classroom of Firefly Farm—just like we always have.

Jenn Shurkus has taught virtually dozens of times in the last three years, including at our first 8 Creative Crate events, and found that her students are enjoying and benefitting from her Copic Marker coloring techniques. For her in-person classes at Firefly Farm and Fox Forest Retreat Center, Jenn will be focusing on teaching these techniques while students make three detailed cards in each class featuring the newest Lawn Fawn release. Students will also receive coloring guides in each class - a fantastic resource!

Due to the prepping done ahead of time, these classes are suitable for all levels! You may register for one or both classes. PSA: Most students like to take both, and those who register for just one are usually disappointed that they didn't register for both.

Bring your green thumb to this Lawn Fawn class!

Just kidding, no green thumb needed! In this class, you can look forward to learning a variety of techniques for enhancing your coloring skills using alcohol-based markers. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience with alcohol-based markers, you'll gain insights into how to achieve professional-looking results. We will also be combining different stamp sets to create cohesive scenes. You'll learn how to mix and match various images and elements to tell a story. Step up your cardmaking skills in this class!

You will create three handmade greetings perfect for spring with whimsical Lawn Fawn images! We will be using some of the latest products from Lawn Fawn, including stamps, dies, papers, and inks. You will also get directions on coloring, techniques, and assembly. Not only will you go home with three cards, but you will also go home with a handout, including coloring guides!

How Art Can It Be? with Lawn Fawn

In this class we will be combining watercolor techniques with die-cuts and stamps to create whimsical scenes. This will be a fun way to learn how to work with watercolors and overcome the fear of watercoloring as it can be an intimidating medium for some.

You will create three handmade, watercolored cards perfect for all occasions with whimsical Lawn Fawn images! We will be using the latest products from Lawn Fawn, including stamps, dies, papers, and inks. Jenn will demonstrate and teach with Distress Watercolor Pencils; however, you can bring Distress Inks to get a similar look/effect.

Students will receive a supply list of essential items they must bring for class (e.g., Copic Markers, adhesives, scissors, etc.). Your class kit includes all paper, die cuts, and stamped images.

We highly recommend that students have the Copic Markers that Jenn will use. We will send this class supply list to all registered students in April, and students can order any of these supplies at a fantastic promotion! If students choose to bring another brand of markers, Jenn will do her best to help them, but please be aware that to keep the class moving, she can only dedicate a little time to this.

Virtual Events | Registration Information

If you are new to our virtual events, we tried our best to explain how they work below. It is a lot of information, so it may be helpful to check out the Facebook Live that Trisha made explaining our upcoming events. You can see this video here.

Registration is open for guests wanting to register for Fawn Fest, Option A, and Option B.

Registration for guests interested in registering for individual events will open on April 1st.

Option A: Guests who register for all four events on or before April 7th will receive a $40 gift certificate in their 12 Days of Craftmas package. $148 will be due to hold your spot in all four events. Guests will then have the option to pay their balance in four equal payments of $200, due on May 1st, June 1st, August 1st, and October 1st.

Option B: Guests who register for the two Creative Crates and 12 Days of Craftmas events on or before April 7th will receive a $30 gift certificate in their 12 Days of Craftmas package. $59 is due to hold your spot in all three events. Guests will then have the option to pay their balance in three equal payments of $230, due on May 15th, July 15th, and October 15th.

*Virtual events occur via a private Facebook group and guests receive their themed package before the event. Registered guests will receive an email before their event with information (like basic supplies needed) and a quick survey where they will note if they are picking up their event package or having it shipped. Guests are charged actual shipping costs once we print their shipping label.

December 1-12 | 12 Days of Craftmas

We know how hectic the holiday season can be, so we decided to offer YOU this bundle of goodies. Firefly Farm is conveniently located off of (and visible from) Highway 52, approximately 10 minutes north of Rochester and 60 minutes south of the Twin Cities (and the Minneapolis/St.Paul International Airport). It is easily accessed from White Pines Road - the frontage road visible from Highway 52, as you get close to Pine Island.

Coming from the south on Hwy 52: Take the first Pine Island exit (Cty 11) at mile marker 71. At the top of the exit make a sharp right onto White Pines Rd SE (sharp right is before you get to the round-about). Follow this frontage road for 1 mile and take a left on 210th Avenue. Firefly Farm will be the red house on your left (first driveway).

Coming from the north on Hwy 52: Take the second Pine Island exit and at the top of the exit turn left (you will cross over Hwy 52). At the round-about take your first right to enter White Pines Rd SE (you will be on the round-about for a very short time). Follow this frontage road for 1 mile and take a left on 210th Avenue. Firefly Farm will be the red house on your left (first driveway).
