Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 34-year-old Diamond Gray of Buffalo was arraigned on Sunday morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Andrew C. LoTempio on one count of Assault in the Second Degree (Class “D” felony) and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class “A” misdemeanor).

Her co-defendant and sister, 35-year-old Dominique C. Gray of Buffalo was arraigned yesterday before Buffalo City Court Judge Jenelle Faso. She is also charged with one count of Assault in the Second Degree and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

It is alleged that on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at approximately 5:40 p.m., the defendants assaulted another adult female during a dispute in the lobby inside of Dr. Lydia T. Wright School of Excellence on Appenheimer Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim was stabbed with a pocket knife during the attack.

The assault occurred while the victim was picking up her child from the school. The child was allegedly pushed to the ground during the altercation.

The victim, a 31-year-old female, was taken to ECMC to be treated for an injury to her back, which resulted in a punctured lung. The victim was treated and released from the hospital.

Diamond Gray is scheduled to return on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. Judge LoTempio set bail at $1,500 cash, $5,000 bond, $5,000 partially secured bond or release under supervision. Her case has been assigned to Judge Faso.

Dominique Gray is also scheduled to return on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. before Judge Faso. Bail was set at $10,000 cash, bond or partially secured bond.

Both judges issued temporary orders of protection on behalf of the victim and her child.

If convicted of the highest charge, both defendants face a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Anthony F. Perna of the Felony Trials Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
