Peter L. Zane, President

Peter Zane, 47, began working at Kryptonite in 1974, joining his father and brother in the day-to-day management of this highly successful, family-owned business. Within five years, Peter was instrumental in helping Kryptonite forge new ground -- first, by expanding into the motorcycle market, and next, by selling Kryptonite products abroad. Both initiatives proved highly successful in increasing sales revenues and building a broader brand presence for Kryptonite. He was named president in 1986 and, in 1993, led the company's introduction into the automotive market. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Franklin and Marshall College, a Master's Degree from Montclair State and a degree in Law from the New England School of Law. Today, Peter remains committed to new market expansions that further build Kryptonite's global presence as The Security Authority.

Michael S. Zane, Founder and Chairman

By the time he officially founded the Kryptonite Corporation in 1973, Michael was already an expert in bicycle security. He had been on the road for over a year talking to bike dealers and campus security officers about the growing problem of bicycle theft. In fact, he did more than talk about the problem, he offered a solution -- the Kryptonite U-Lock -- the first-of-it's-kind bicycle lock. As an art and history major at Franklin and Marshall College, and during his art history studies abroad, Michael's dream was to have one of his designs on display in New York's Museum of Modern Art. He achieved that goal in 1983 when Kryptonite's K-4 Lock was placed in the museum's permanent design collection. Michael's expansive knowledge of the bicycle industry has led to Kryptonite's long history of innovative product introductions. Today, Michael, 50, spearheads the company's product development efforts, and is the driving force behind Kryptonite's commitment to creating premiere security devices that are recognized worldwide as being superior in both design and function.
