Miryam (Mimi) Wise:
Mimi was born in Milan, Italy in 1937. In 1938 Mimi’s mother relocated the family to Strasbourg, France, the home of Mimi’s maternal grandparents. This marked the beginning of a five year endeavour to stay one step ahead of their Nazi persecutors – a remarkable journey of rescue and courage; of love and sacrifice.
Mimi believes it is her duty as a survivor to tell her story to keep the memory of the 6 million alive and to combat anti-semitism and intolerance. Mimi regularly shares her story to school groups and others at the Sydney Jewish Museum. As well, Mimi volunteers for Courage to Care, travelling in rural NSW and Queensland, using her story to inform and educate Australians about the dangers of prejudice, racism and discrimination.
Mimi, who is visiting from Sydney, Australia, will be sharing her family’s story of survival.
