👉🏼For the first time, #Seakura seaweed was used as a biofilter by “The National Water Company”. We are proud to present to you an initial, ground-breaking pilot project, produced through a collaboration between Seakura, the Water Authority (Israel's government authority for water and sewage), "MEKOROT® – Israel's national water and the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture. 💦 Seawater desalination is a way to create fresh drinking water from seawater or brackish water that is not suitable for drinking. It is a process that separates the water from the dissolved minerals. 💦 Water desalinated from natural sources is essential in places where there are few drinking water sources since it reduces the need to draw water from natural sources, protecting the environment adjacent to the natural water sources. 💦 Desalination produces water that has high nitrate concentrations (water that remains after the desalination process and is intended to go back into the sea), which can cause seawater pollution. As the leading company in its field, with a proven patented technology for growing seaweed on land ☘️🪸, we mobilized as soon as the Israeli Water Authority contacted us about finding an ecological solution for the adsorption of nitrates from the water of the plant. Together with the best of our professionals and the above partners, we prepared a plan for the joint project "Seakura seaweed as a biological filter". We are excited to announce that the pilot project has begun. Our aim is to return cleaner water to the sea and to use the seaweed that remains at the end of the process, as fertilizer. 🌱 In preserving and restoring the sea, this project can have global significance. 🌎 We would like to thank the Israel Water Authority, the "MEKOROT® company, and the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture for the opportunity and the trust they placed in us and for our joint efforts. 🙏🏼 הרשות הממשלתית למים וביוב משרד החקלאות ופיתוח הכפר | Israeli Ministry of Agriculture #seaweed #environment #technology In the first comment few behind-the-scenes pictures for your impression. Really mind blowing idea. If this concept is successful, you are providing solution to one of the future problems of the world. Would love to see your success .👍

On-land abalone farmers in South Africa have been using the paddle wheel raceway growing Ulva for over 20 years to capture excess nutrients from outflow before it is re-introduced to the ocean, filtering the water before re-entry. It really does work wonders and therefore I believe this will be a success. Best of luck.

Nice video! Would Seakura be willing to tell its story at the Seagriculture EU 2023 conference in Trondheim in June?
