Win2k3 problem

Post by Diggy »

Hello to all.

I've added UltraVNC to my Windows 2003 Server. When I try to connect from any client, I'm presented with the login box. After adding the password, the seesion just quits (I never see the Win2k3 desktop). Can anyone help?

Many thanks.

W2K3 servers running terminal services have issues, but usually gives you a blank screen.

I guess what would help us help you is -
Is the server running as a service?
What version are you using?
Does it give you an error message?
and maybe a little bit more detail in order for us to understand and help you...

Same Problem

Connection Closed is the Error I get...

1.0 RC 18 and default server 2k3 install.

When the machine is logged in and the desktop is availabe "Not Locked" the VNC service works great.

But when it auto locks or it is at a logon screen the service crashes completely. The tray icon remains but it only will give the local IP on hover but you cannont access any menus with either a double click or right click.

You must kill the process from the task manager to move forward and then "net start winvnc" This is a problem on my test 2003 server regardless of my vnc client. but on my XP/2k machines it works great as to the rest.

Any Ideas?

I found that my problem was Version...

RC 18 had the problem so I uninstalled RC 18 and found that RC19.5 is available. However only via the source Forge Site and not on the main page.

Once I installed the new version that helped and the problem is now gone. Sorry for the Confusion.

I had been using ver. 18. I took the advice posted above and upgraded to 19.5. I can connect from the Win2k3 server to an XP or Linux (running VNC 4) workstation, and I can connect from the Linux workstations to the server, but not from the XP workstations. The ultravnc splash screen comes up, then freezes there. If I install Vnc 4 on the XP workstations, the password dialogue box comes up, I enter the password, click OK, the box disappears, then nothing. Not sure what other info. I can provide.
