Sinclair Broadcast Group has stepped completely out of bounds by forcing its 62 television stations to show (without commercial breaks!) a one-sided, anti-Kerry documentary two weeks before the election.

Sinclair claims that it can show the film without offering alternative coverage because the documentary is simply news. But the film so distorts Kerry’s antiwar activities that it looks more like a campaign ad for President Bush!

We deserve fair and balanced coverage of the presidential candidates! Here’s what you can do:

First, vote with your feet! Don’t watch Sinclair, go see “Going Upriver” instead! This documentary offers quite another perspective on John Kerry’s record during and after the Vietnam War.

Here’s what long-time 20/20 board member Sandy Gottlieb, who introduced Kerry to the huge antiwar rally of April 1971, has to say about “Going Upriver: The Long War of John Kerry”:

“Its the most moving documentary I've ever seen. In dealing with Kerry's wartime service in Vietnam and his antiwar activities in Washington in April 1971, it tells a rare tale of both military and civic courage… It's dynamite--the best antidote to the ugly attacks on Kerry's patriotism and, beyond that, a primer on how to love your country.”

This Saturday, October 23, thousands of Americans will tune out Sinclair and see “Going Upriver.” Click here if you’d like to host a house party or attend one in your area.

Second, sign this petition asking companies that advertise on Sinclair networks to pull the plug! We've been told by other organizations that Sinclair is no longer accepting public comments, so we've given you another way to take action. Pressuring the advertisers to take a stand is a sure way to send the message that Americans don’t accept Sinclair’s tactics.

Don’t let corporate media play politics with OUR airwaves!

Best,

Tom and Rebecca
