Survey to Assess Our Commitment to Antiracism in Our NCFF Meetings

     At a meeting of the North Carolina Fellowship of Friends (NCFF) Antiracism Working Group on 12/01/2021, members in attendance decided that it would be helpful to know how our Meetings were dealing with antiracism. We agreed that a survey could be used to assess where each Meeting as a body was with respect to becoming more antiracist.
     Below are three sections in this anonymous survey: the first includes 10 yes/no questions; the second, six open ended questions; and the third, a checklist for you to look at what you are doing in your daily life to address or show awareness of antiracism. Although this is an anonymous survey, we ask that you list your Meeting at the end.
     We are hopeful that the results of this survey will help both individual Meetings as well as our NCFF Antiracism Working Group to assess our Meetings’ antiracist work and to plan for future programs that might address particular needs. Thank you for helping us in this endeavor.

Section One: Yes/No Questions
1. Does your Meeting feel the need to make any changes within to work against racism?

3. Do you believe that your Meeting is viewed by others as an antiracist faith community?
4. Does your Meeting work with racially oppressed communities?
5. Does your Meeting hire contractors and service people from businesses owned by People of Color?
6. Are Meeting members working within and outside the congregation to recognize white privilege?
7. Are decisions in your Meeting and its committees made using an antiracist lens? (Example: “How does this decision contribute to antiracist work?”)
8. Are there traditions, policies and practices (spoken and unspoken) in your Meeting that have become norms or standards advantaging white Quakers? (Example: Are Meeting scholarship funds only available to the youth of your Meeting?
9. Are members/attenders open to messages, music and congregational responses in worship that do not conform to traditional Quaker standards of speech/behavior?
10. Are there Persons of Color in leadership positions in your Meeting?
