Join us for the 18th Annual Fair Housing Symposium featuring workshops and speakers for current trending topics likely to have an impact on your work. This year’s theme “Fair Housing in Changing Times” Here is what you can look forward to:

Panel Discussion: Selling and Renting Affordable Housing - Challenges and Opportunities in the Tampa Bay Region. 

Housing costs have never been higher in the Tampa Bay Region.  This panel discussion will delve into some of the key factors that have led to higher housing costs, what affordable housing means, and how various programs work to put individuals and families into affordable for-sale and rental homes. Hear from panelists Fran Pheeny, President/CEO of Suncoast Housing Connections and Devon M. Quist, Vice President and Project Partner of Dominium. 

Legal Training Modules: Symposium participants will have a choice to attend one of two different legal training modules.

Track 1: Assistance Animals and Housing  

Trainer Rhonda Stringer, a partner at Saxon Gillmore & Carraway, P.A. will delve into the differences between service animals and emotional support animals, and the legal requirements of housing providers for both. 

Track 2: Familial Status and Housing

Trainer Kelle Senyé, Deputy Director of Operations, Greater Albuquerque Housing Partnership will cover various legal aspects of familial status and related areas of law, including occupancy limits, rules related to children and GLBTQ persons. 

Fair Housing Scenarios: Is It, or Is It Not Discrimination? 

Through prepared videos, we will run through various real-life scenarios featuring possible instances of housing discrimination. Moderated by: Jeffery Lorick, Director, Office of Human Rights, Pinellas County

Fair Housing Art Contest

We will also be awarding our annual student art contest winners.
