University of Chicago's Nicholas D'Ambrose Named Finalist for the 2022 William V. Campbell Trophy®

IRVING, Texas — The National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame announced University of Chicago senior running back Nicholas D'Ambrose as one of the fifteen finalists for the 2022 William V. Campbell Trophy®. The award recognizes an individual as the absolute best in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance, and exemplary leadership. 
 
D'Ambrose, a native of Addison, Ill., is pursuing a degree in neuroscience on a pre-med track. He currently ranks fourth in NCAA Division III with 131 rushing yards per game in the 2022 season. The team captain's 786 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns and 154.7 all-purpose yards per game leads the Midwest Conference (MWC) as well. In the passing game, he has hauled in 12 receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown.
 
D'Ambrose and the other finalists were selected from a list of 156 semifinalists nationwide among all NCAA divisions and the NAIA. Each finalist will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2022 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments®
 
The finalists will travel to Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas for the 64th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 6, where their accomplishments will be highlighted in front of one of the most powerful audiences in all of sports.
 
During the event, one member of the class will be declared as the winner of the 33rd Campbell Trophy® and have his postgraduate scholarship increased to $25,000. Click here for more information on the Awards Dinner, including options to purchase tickets online, special travel rates to the event from Delta Air Lines and Bellagio and a concierge service provided by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
 
Submitted by their schools, which are limited to one nominee each, candidates for the Campbell Trophy® must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of playing eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.
