Learn about our Municipal Court Advice Desk
The CARPLS Municipal Court Advice Desk (MCAD) launched its virtual Help Desk on October 18, 2021 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic when many, if not most, Cook County Municipal Court cases began to be heard virtually on Zoom.

MCAD’s goal was to duplicate the in-person help desk experience virtually on Zoom and to “meet” our clients on a platform with which they were familiar. MCAD has had a great first year as a virtual desk.

Director of Communications

The Director of Communications plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the organization achieves its goals for communication growth in alignment with its mission, vision and values to ensure that anyone in need can access legal help through CARPLS.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) Paralegal

We are currently seeking a full-time paralegal to support the work of our legal aid hotline and court-based advice desks. The Paralegal will support the hotline by taking calls from existing clients who are calling back for more direction/advice, answering questions, and screening their situation for new developments.

Staff Attorney 

We are seeking several full-time or part-time staff attorneys to work on our legal aid hotline and other program projects. The staff attorney’s responsibilities include advising low- and moderate-income clients over our busy legal aid hotline. Some projects involve client consultations by video conferencing.

Client saved from an eviction!
Anna called our CCLAHD hotline because she was facing an eviction. Our hotline attorney helped her understand her legal rights and got her connected to rental assistance resources. Anna said, “The attorney was kind, thoughtful, patient. She explained everything clearly and made sure I understood everything."
Helping client with credit debt
Kelly called CARPLS because she was being harassed for a credit card debt that she was trying to pay down. The CARPLS attorney helped her understand her options. Kelly said, "CARPLS is a lifesaver! They really helped me in my time of need."
