Ag Executive Secretary RIVCHPP, Dr Vetty Agala was among the dignitaries present at the official flag-off ceremony of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine introduction for young girls between the ages 9-14 years in Rivers State by Her Excellency Mrs. Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, wife of the Executive Governor of Rivers State ably represented by the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Oreh. In her goodwill message, Dr Agala congratulated the Rivers State Government on the auspicious flagoff that will protect girls in the state. She wished the state a happy 57th anniversary and all children present, a Happy Children’s Day. As we round up the weeklong interactive engagement with various stakeholders Dr Vetty Agala, Ag Executive secretary RIVCHPP met with leaders of various labour unions in the state led by Comrade Chuku Emecheta, chairman Joint Public Sector Negotiating Council. Dr Agala thanked the leaders for granting her audience, she gave them a brief overview of the RIVCHPP journey, milestones achieved, health plans for formal sector. She emphasized their roles as major stakeholder as we strive to achieve the mandate of #Health4AllRivers by His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS. Highlighting a few of their roles to include demand generation for access to health insurance for civil servants, myth bursting and mobilizing members for health insurance. At the celebration of 2024 World Family Doctors Day with the society of Family Physicians of Nigeria and the Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners the Ag. Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP Dr Vetty Agala discussed the role of family doctors, she emphasized that family physicians help manage chronic illness, working with patients to prevent health problems. In line with our commitment to achieve comprehensive healthcare coverage and reduce out-of-pocket expenses in Rivers State, this week, the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), in collaboration with the National Health Insurance Agency (NHIA) launched a 5-day Basic Health Care Provision Fund (#BHCPF) facilities assessment & accreditation visit to PHCs. Dr Adaeze Oreh, the Honourable Commissioner for Health in Rivers State, flagged off the exercise at the Model Healthcare Center in Orogbum, Port Harcourt. The Executive Secretary, RIVCHPP Dr Vetty Agala was accompanied by the NHIA Director South South Zone, Pharm. Ajodi Nuhu and the NHIA Rivers state coordinator, Mr. Itodo Chris (JP).

It's OFFICIAL!!! We are excited to announce that yesterday, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Rivers State, Dr Adaeze Oreh, officially opened the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) office. Kudos to Ag. ES, Dr Vetty Agala and everyone who worked hard to make this event possible. Dr Oreh who commended His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara for his commitment to ensuring quality healthcare in the state, said it was a significant moment for her as the first memo she received from H.E. was on RIVCHPP. She revealed that out-of-pocket payment for health is high in Rivers State, and she is assured that RIVCHPP will enable prompt access to healthcare, leaving no one behind. Dr Vetty Agala lauded His Excellency for making it possible for the state to join other states with Health Insurance Programmes to achieve #UHC. She emphasized the programme's aim to remove financial barriers towards health access, particularly for the vulnerable population. The incredible turnout at this event truly warmed our hearts.
