2021-22 PTA Volunteer Opportunities
The Windsor PTA is looking for volunteers for the new school year (2021-22). Please review the list of volunteer opportunities and indicate any programs/areas you would like to be involved in or learn more about. You will be connected with the appropriate Committee Chair or Windsor Staff member in the near future for more details on how you can help. All dates are subject to change. In addition there are many areas where we are looking for committee chairs, so please indicate if you would be willing to step into that role. Thank you for your support. We cannot provide these programs without our wonderful volunteers.

ABC/25 Foundation including the Get Burbed Challenge
ABC/25 Foundation provides teacher grants and scholarships to District 25 schools. The Get Burbed Challenge is a 5k and 1 mile fun run/walk and the foundations main fundraising event. Volunteers needed for various fundraising, race planning and on-site support. ABC/25 Get Burbed Challenge will take place in Spring 2022 (TBD). For more information visit www.abc25challenge.org
Activity Night (Grade Specific)
Assist with activities organized for a one-hour, weeknight, grade-specific activity night. Kindergarten includes both AM & PM classes.  1st Grade includes all 1st grade classes and is typically held in Oct/Nov.
Book Fair
Assist w/ set-up, take down, and/or work during the sale (multiple times available – day and evening). February 2-3. A sign-up genius is created closer to the event date.
Science Fair
Often aligned with the book fair, help with the planning and execution of the science fair in February.
Dance Party w/ Sensory Friendly Time
Parent volunteers will assist committee chairs as needed with check-in, sensory friendly time, crowd control, and serving drinks.  On a Friday at the end of January 2022. A sign-up genius is typically created closer to the event date.
Fall Harvest
One day in Sept/Oct to assist with unloading truck or organizing items for pick-up. Fill caramel apple and cinnamon donut orders. Order delivery/pick-up set for TBD.  Various shifts in the afternoon and after school would be available. A sign-up genius is created closer to the event date.
5th Grade Committee
Volunteers are needed for many roles, such as 5th Grade Breakfast, Tshirts, Memory Video, Class Pictures, etc. Sign-up here to get more information from the committee chairs in the fall.
Family Fun Event
Fun event for students and families at a time that kids are not in school.  Event and location are not yet set.
Green Team
Various garden and ecology lunchtime activities with the kids. Help with the planting day, harvesting, watering and various activities with the kids. Typically meets 1x month on Wednesdays in LMC during lunchtime recess (12:10-1:10).
Hospitality
Assist committee chair as needed. Serve food & refreshments for various activities/events such as teacher dinners at conference time, back-to-school luncheon and teacher/staff appreciation week. Also may be asked to help set up/break down events. (you do not provide all the food as part of this committee, just help organize and set up). A sign-up may be created to help with donations for a specific event.
Junior Great Books
Lead small group literature discussions (Jan-Mar) during lunch recess. Group meets 1x/week for 8 weeks. The session/group can be shared by two or more leaders. **Training is provided.
Picture Day
Escort students to & from photo area, assist keeping children in line, and collect order forms. A sign-up genius will be created.
Room Representative
Coordinate and communicate classroom volunteer opportunities, work with your specific teacher to schedule other volunteers per teacher/classroom needs.  Communicates as needed throughout the school year.
School Supply Kit
Assist with distributing school supply kits in mid-August 2021. A sign-up genius will be created closer to the distribution date.
Spirit Wear
Assist with organizing and distributing orders to students mid to late September.
Veterans Breakfast/Honor
An annual Windsor tradition that we hope to bring back this year. We are looking for those willing to assist Committee Chairs with the planning and execution of the breakfast to honor our veterans.
Teacher Appreciation
Assist with organizing thank you notes, spirit days etc during teacher appreciation week.
Welcome Committee
Assist with activities welcoming new families to Windsor, including new kindergarten families. Activities may include summer park dates, welcome breakfast on 1st day of school, etc. Activities will occur at the beginning of the year as well as during kindergarten registration.
Community Service/Windsor Cares
Assist Committee Chairs to deliver community service oriented projects and events (like  Project Linus, Bernie's Book Bank, etc).
World of Work
5th Grade Students spend 2 hours "working" in a downtown Arlington Heights business. Volunteers needed to chaperone at assigned business. Typically held in late May.  A sign-up genius would be created closer to the event date.
Yearbook/Yearbook Photographer
Take classroom and party photos for the WIndsor yearbook.  Will also be coordinated through the specific classroom Room Reps.
Windsor Cookbook Fundraiser
Assist with the gathering of recipes, and production of a cookbook including recipes from the school community. This is something we do about every 5 years and is fun and successful.
Running club
Assist with running club meetings - the plan would be to meet after school. We have a lead who is looking for a couple other parents that would be willing to help out.
LMC Volunteer: Assist librarian with re-shelving books and assist students, as needed
