It was ok. It’s safe 🤷🏼♀️
I found all aspects of this book lacking depth or any normal reactions to anything. I struggled to connect to the h because her reactions to everything felt super unrelatable. Their kinks felt completely out of left field, not at all organic and didn’t really fit the characters we’re given, and so were just not sexy to me at all. (For example, how does the guy that can’t even remember what BdSM is become an instant expert about spanking, safewords, and CNC?? ) There were a lot of dangling plot points that were introduced and should have been a big deal but just weren’t. The book would have been infinitely better if they had been a big deal.
And since it’s lacking any real drama or angst (mostly due to lack of depth) it was boring, which is why it’s a 2 star.

Such a great read - I completely tore through it in one sitting! Great characters, a good amount angst, and a little bit of a mystery ❤. Loved the tension between the two MCs and loved the FMC gave as good as she got. Great tension between them and the smexy times were super hot! Renee Rose started my love of shifter romance and still manages to hit the spot every time. I'm hoping there's more books to come in this series, but regardless, I can't wait to see what's next!

I really like this series and am a big Renee Rose fan! This one started a little slower - maybe a bit more of a slow burn? - but I still really liked it. Loved seeing more of the characters Abe and Lauren. And once they "got together", the story really picked up speed!

Another great story in this series. I absolutely love that I don't have to go back and reread the past books. I was able to jump right into Alpha King and read it
I am not big on high school books, but I love the PNR part, and I think that is what makes this book work so well. Two people falling in love despite their differences is the whole point of love. I honestly can't find anything wrong with the story.
Another must read. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The couple: Abe and Lauren

Length: 264 pages
Plot: Abe is king of the school, an alpha who rules those around him. Nobody knows about his genetic defect though, the one that makes his vision go in and out. He goes to great lengths to hide that from everyone, but then Lauren arrives in Wolf Ridge. She's rich, aloof, and spoiled, as far as Abe's concerned. Lauren's hiding her own problems, though, and Abe is one of those. He's a bully when they're in front of others, but he's something else when they're alone. But Lauren won't be anyone's dirty secret. Abe has decisions to make, and the young alpha will have to make them soon.
Commentary: I like this series, inexplicably; I don't really like most high school bully stories, but this is an exception. I think it's partially because it's a shifter story, and partly because I like this author. It is ridiculous in the sense that these high school boys are experienced bdsm-lite practitioners, already experts in light bondage and spanking. Many of the high school boys I know can't even remember to put on deodorant. But this is a fun story, and I've enjoyed the series because I like seeing the heroine overcome the hero's stupid bullying and I like the grovel afterward. I didn't really like how once the heroine was all of a sudden the dad was okay with it. But this was still a good read.

I inhaled this book in two days! If you have been following me, you would know how much I love wolf shifter romance novels by now. And I am so thankful to @literallyourspr.com for granting me an advanced reader’s copy and in exchange I am leaving my honest review.
A Wolf Shifter romance in college setting. He is a bully to Her snobby bitch status—your usual school rift drama. But it was secrets and a dark past that caused their divide; walls built in order to protect themselves.
As the story progressed, despite the wall of rifts, I love how they were ultimately drawn to each other. Helpless as Abe was, he just couldn’t stay away from Lauren. And Lauren, despite her view of Abe as a bully, finds herself attracted to the school’s star quarterback when she catches a glimpse of his true self—not the Alphahole version.
And I love how clumsy everything unraveled! Very cute and adorable.
A few things I got confused in this universe is that the term Alpha has been thrown around in the novel quite a lot. There’s a lot of Alpha characters (which is normal for omegaverse novels but this novel is not one) and all of them *can* use the Alpha command (which should only be applicable to the Alpha or the head of the pack). So it’s quite odd for me.
Overall, this was a very cute read! One that you can surely read in a day or two ;)

Alpha King was such a great paranormal romance! I absolutely loved the main and side characters! This book is dark, spicy😈🥵, has werewolf and bear shifters, and a few twists that made it even better! The build-up between the main characters was perfection! 🙌😍It wasn't fast-paced, but it wasn't exactly slow either. Author Renee Rose has some incredible descriptive writing and the ability to make stories come to life!

Long live the Queen!
Honestly, I would be the first to tell you that I don’t enjoy reading high school romances- for more than obvious reasons as someone in their 30s- but this series just gripped me and hasn’t released me and I have enjoyed reading every single book that’s been out so far. So of course I’m hoping it continues!

This series just keeps getting better and better! I love the chemistry between Abe and Lauren! It was so spicy I am still burned! Another great book from my new favorite author Renee Rose! Her werewolf stories are so much fun to read!

Very seldom for I find a school bully romance catching my attention unless the main people knew the other before a change or something along those lines, but this one actually grabbed my attention from the start and still thinking about it. I do have a question but I’ll ask that at the end of my review. It was nice not have a mean snobby alpha female with jealousy issues that the alpha’s not picking her and so one, just the ‘alpha king’ is a one man show with his over the top ass-holey and his fellow football players.
Stop reading is you don’t want a hit of a spoiler but it is my question that is nagging me to find out…
My only question is was the old bear her granddad?

We're back in Wolf Ridge - Abe is the high school quarterback and an alpha, with Lauren being the new human girl in school.
Lauren and her twin brother Lincoln have moved from Manhattan to Wolf Ridge with their father after losing their mother to cancer a year ago, and their father basically checking out on life, this was their attempt to help him out by bringing them all somewhere she loved. Lauren has also basically stopped feeling anything and is emotionless and numb to their world since losing her mum, her whole world is just grey and meaningless.
Abe can't understand why his wolf is drawn to the new human girl - being with a human is out of the question, his father would throw a fit, but he gets partnered up with Lauren in chemistry and being in close proximity seem to set his defect off - he has a problem with his eyes which he needs to keep quiet if he wants to keep his alpha status and respect from the other shifters. But he literally turns into a stalker around Lauren, his wolf going to their property and standing outside her window!
It's only when Lauren finds herself on the edge of a cliff, wondering if she would feel anything if she fell off, that their world changes, as Abe spots her and thinks she's going to jump, and shifts forms without thinking, letting a human in on his massive secret.
These two are great together, both broken in their separate ways - it takes the two of them getting together before they actually see each other for what they really are, not just the facade others see around them. I loved their connection, and how things seemed to get worse for them before it got better. Another great story in this series.

Abe has somethings going on in his life and a much as he try’s to hide it from everyone he starts getting closer to Lauren. The one person everyone dislikes s she is human or so they think. As Abe and Lauren get closer the mate bond gets stronger till he can no longer ignore it and little does Abe know, Lauren is the answer to his issue.
Abe and Lauren are such a wonderful couple. The banter, the swoon worthy moments had me melting 🫠, they had me in giggles kicking my feet, the spice and chemistry they shared 🥵

And so here we are, back in Wolf Ridge, AZ. Abe and his buddies are now seniors and Abe is the Alpha King of the school. I still can't get over sweet Abe growing up to be a true alpha-hole.
Abe is finding himself drawn to Lauren, the Ice Princess from Manhattan, and yes, she's a human. A smart, rich girl who is not the least bit impressed by Abe or anyone else in town. I loved the way she constantly took him down a peg at every opportunity. Spunky girl!
While they were both drawn to one another, they fought it hard. Lauren wants nothing to do the the cocky baller and Abe absolutely cannot get involved with a human female. But sometimes it is just impossible to fight fate and these two were actually made for each other.
I really liked that we got to see a different side of Abe than his public persona. At those times he reminded me of the sweet boy he used to be.
There some drama and quite a few secrets, a couple of them surprised me and one or two were a bit predictable. No, I'm not going to discuss any of them. You'll have to read the book yourself.
Most of this book runs parallel to Step Alpha, and it has tons of spoilers for that other book so if you plan to read it you should do that first. Otherwise it is completely standalone as Abe and Lauren's story is totally unrelated to any other book in the series.
I'm so happy Renee has started writing these books again. I adored Alpha Knight and kept wishing she would one day continue the series. I hope she plans more in the future.

Lauren moved with her twin and their father after losing her mom. Abe is an alpha in every way: as a wolf, as the school’s star quarterback and one of the most popular guys in school. Anyone would envy him, but he’s got a dark secret and if it gets out, it will change everything. He and Lauren butt heads at first, but once they actually start paying attention to each other, things change. Abe doesn’t understand why he’s so obsessed with the beautiful human, but he can’t stay away, even though an alpha can’t mate a human. He needs to mate another alpha in the hopes of ridding their family line of the defect.
The characters are so real, their pain is palpable, and the banter is hot. Once they start spending time together, they quickly realize this isn’t just physical attraction and they know they shouldn’t act on it but can’t help themselves. I really loved this story. The characters are great and their story is emotional but also funny and steamy at times. I adore this series and this is probably my favorite so I can’t recommend it enough.

What if Edward Collins was a werewolf….
Nah, there were slight similarities like the fact they were lab partners and Lauren didn’t know about the paranormal creatures in her world until Abe revealed it all, but this book was way more mature. Twilight certainly never had half the dirty words that came out of Abe’s mouth. And, these shifters weren’t anything like Meyers creations.
In truth this was a quick and easy read with some smutty scenes thrown into a steamy plot. The MCs were high school seniors but they had the maturity level of college students so it was easy to age them up in my head. I liked their relationship, and even though Abe started out as a testosterone fueled meathead with strong jock vibes he evolved and showed his depth. Lauren’s struggles to grieve and process the world around her made her an endearing character. And the two of them together was pure magic.
There were minor typos and a couple of awkward phrases but they were inconsequential enough that I could bypass them and keep reading.

Starting this book, I was not sure what I was getting into. I do not read many alpha or werewolf stories. I am not big on young adults due to age and the fact the MCs are still in high school is hard for me at times since it is a dark romance book. But starting out I was able to imagine them at an older age and the writing had me intrigued so it is not a hard book to read even if the tropes are not your thing.
I felt for the female main character with the emotions she is trying to digest of the loss she recently went through while navigating and finishing a new school. Then you must throw in the alpha-hole males who want to bully the human new kids and the runts. Images must be maintained for the sake of the pack. Although, the main male character has some issues of his own that make him less than perfect. Abe’s obsession with Lauren is funny at times with his battling mentality. She does find out rather quickly he is a wolf and although she is going through a lot, she seems nonchalant about it. Her playing with death to see if she has feelings was intense but I am happy with how it turned out. I love the added touch of different types of shifters as things such as vampires as well and not just wolves. The Twilight reference made this book so much better for me, ratties unite! Overall this was not a bad book but at times hard to read due to the age of the characters.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "ALPHA KING" I thouroghly enjoyed this paranormal bullying romance full of intrigue, secrets, angst, stalking, steam, emotional turmoil, losing control, dark past, obsession, twists that keeps you turning the pages.
Lauren & twin brother have moved to Manhattan to Wolf Ridge after lsong their mom to cancer & their father isn't doing well at all being there they hoped would help him be wise their mom loved it there.

Back with the students of Wolf Ridge High and following up with Rayne’s friend Lauren who was introduced in Step Alpha. Like her friend Lauren too is dealing with her own problems, for her its having lost her mother a year previously she is drifting through each day just getting by.
Abe Oakley has a secret which he is desperate to keep hidden from his shifter community. Add into the mix he is massively attracted to Lauren a human which he struggles to control. While stalking her he indirectly shares the shifter secret while saving her life. Desperate to keep her from sharing the secret brings her to a vampire to have her memory wiped, unable to proceed with it this was a huge turning point in the story.
Abe & Lauren grow much closer to each other and as he helps her to move forward from her grief he still has his own issue struggling with his inner wolf but what he’s not been understanding is his wolf has been trying to tell him Lauren is their mate, but will he realise this before it’s too late for them.
While secrets are exposed for both Abe and Lauren with lots of drama the spice between these characters makes for a 🌶️🌶️ read which readers will want to enjoy.

We read a bit about Lauren and Lincoln in “Step Alpha.” So we pretty much knew there was something there with her and Abe. Abe has a father that pushes for him to find an Alpha female not a human. He wants him to not to “dilute” the alpha gene and make him purer. But you know that isn’t going to hold. Lauren and Abe are fated and this a battle of wills. He has been bullying her. Lauren just bides her time till she can leave Cave Hills. She and her brother are only there to support her father. Lauren’s “boyfriend” is definitely a jerk. You can tell he was just hanging on to her just to be with the “in crowd.” And we have a mystery shifter in the mix. And something else really interesting going on. Leaches are here too but not in a good way. Abe learns that Lauren means more to him then ever. I do love that. It takes him a while but he finally steps up. He not only awakens Lauren from her slumber but releases his inner wolf. These two a a strong pair. I look forward to finding out about Asher. And is Carlotta James in the mix as well. I was glad we back tracked a bit into Rayne’s story. And what about Lincoln, Lauren’s twin.

Lauren and her twin move to Wolf Ridgw in Arizona after her mother passing away. Abe is a wolf shifter who has secret he must hide at all cost. Abe and Lauren are seniors in high school and are chemistry partners. Abe is a complete jerk to Lauren bit is also drawn to her. Since her mother's passing, Lauren has been numb and and feels alive when this wolf appears around her house. Unbeknownst to her, the wolf is Abe. When the anniversary of her mother's passing occurs, Abe misinterpreted, Lauren's actions and reveals his shifter side. When Abe takes her to her memories wiped, they are betrayed by the Vampire and Abe's wolf surges forward to rescue Lauren. As Abe and Lauren get closer, Abe's secret gets worse. Lauren has an unexpected encounter with a snake that leads to a visit from a bear shifter who might be related to her. There's a chance that Lauren might be a different kind of shifter and it's dangerous for her and Abe to be together. When Abe's dad learns that Lauren knows about them they take her in again to have her mind wiped. This infuriates Abe's wolf and he again jumps to defend his mate. Overall, this was a fast and engaging read. I cannot wait for the next installment.

Abe is the Alpha of his high school. Leader and football star.
But he has a secret that is tearing him apart.
I appreciated he isn’t the typical “perfect” alpha.
It was interesting and intriguing to get know Abe and the complexity and layers of him.
I really felt for Lauren. She goes through so much. In such a short amount of time.
She may have just been going through the motions of being okay and getting by.
But I thought she was tough and courageous.
I adorned that she didn’t let anyone push her around. She gave as good as she got.
There is a connection between Abe and Lauren. And neither can really understand why.
Maybe they each see the broken in the other. Maybe their souls gravitate to the other to feel complete.
But the push and pull with them is high octane.
Ms. Rose gives some extra drama aside from the forbidden fruit romance.
Which was riveting. And kept me flipping the pages to see how not only the romance would turn out.
But how everything else would play out. I really liked the things I didn’t see coming.
**4.5 stars for the baller and Pearls

We are back at Wolf Ridge High with Abe and Lauren, whom we met in Rayne and Wilde’s story (Step Alpha) along with Lauren’s twin Lincoln. Admittedly, I’m not a huge fan of bully stories, but the ones Renee Rose writes are entertaining and absolute page-turners. In Alpha King, we find out that Abe has a pretty-big secret, for a shifter, and it’s a HUGE deal. While Lauren is dealing with her own secrets. With both of them feeling “broken”, they quickly realize that when they’re together, that’s absolutely not the case. What ensues is a delightful and smexy story that’s a hefty mix of shifter politics, coming of age, alphaholes, and some damn-good coupling. As a regular reader of this author, I enjoy all the different genres she writes in, but will admit to a love of her Arizona shifter stories – there’s many – and stories from WRH make for a great way to wile away the evening.

Alpha King follows Lauren and Abe in an semi- enemies to lovers romance. It is classified as a bully romance but the bullying isn’t that intense and it’s quite small percentage. I think the main thing is that there is a lot of disregarding what they can both feel so it goes in circles quite a lot.
Nice quick easy cute read. Only took 3.5hrs in total so super quick. I hadn’t read any of the other books in this series so at the beginning was a little confused with the terminology and how packs were structured as always read ones where there’s only one alpha so was an interesting take. I did find the ending quite quick and not as satisfactory as I thought it would be when they eventually did come together also would’ve loved to have a bit more regarding Lauren’s family lines but maybe that’s more discussed in her brothers book!

I normally steer clear of high school or college romances. They are just not my cup of tea.
Abe and Lauren's story was pretty decent. It was easy for me to forget about them being high school students. I thought addition of the vampires was interesting.
This book had the romance and the heat. It also offered up a bit of mystery, intrigue, and suspense. Trying to figure out what was going on with Abe and his reaction to Lauren was somewhat of a puzzle to me. The introduction of the bear shifter was a nice twist to the story. It did end up adding to the mystery of Lauren's situation.
I can't say that I will snatch up the next YA book I run across, but I will be reading apthe next Wolf Ridge High book. I am awfully invested in and curious about Lincoln and Archer's stories.

It's not bad, but it's not an awesome book either. Not one that I would go back and read again, if given a choice. I did enjoy reading about Abe and Lauren. The drama was minimal, and there were no major issues or actions.
I felt like there were things missing from the storyline. There's a lot of gaps/holes that were left unanswered, such as the bear shifter. There was very minimal information then poof... Just gone like the wind.
I think I'll go backward and read the first book. Maybe that'll help fill in some information about the other characters since I read the most recently released book first.

I think I'll go backward and read the first book. Maybe that'll help fill in some information about the other characters since I read the most recently released book first.

Fast paced and engaging, I really enjoyed this next book in the Wolf Ridge High series. It did take me a bit to get into but once I did, I loved it! Lauren is having a hard time with the death of her mother and moving to Arizona. Abe is one of the "popular" kids at school and while he hates that she is a human, he's also drawn to her as his wolf is saying this is their mate. I enjoyed to push and pull of them and how Lauren doesn't seem to care that he's a wolf shifter but when she's in danger, it's going to be up to him to help her, even against his father's wishes! This book will grab hold of you and won't let go!
