After you find a grant opportunity, there are two basic steps to follow for grant writing: planning the content and writing/submitting the grant proposal. Learn the essential basics of grant writing so you can write more persuasive proposals to secure more resources for your organization. We will look at the sections that are common to most grant applications and learn how to research, build, and save them for ‘cpa’ work—cut, paste, and attach--for future grants. We’ll also cover the actual writing, formatting, and submission of the grant proposal.

More and more nonprofits, grantmakers, and government partners, are focusing on outcomes, rather than “outputs.” All of this is referred to variously as, “outcomes measurement,” or “performance management,” or simply, “evaluation.” in an environment of increasingly limited resources, those nonprofits that can demonstrate that they are truly making an impact will be the ones most likely to attract resources and talent, and therefore be most sustainable.

To provide a wide range of administrative and clerical services to support the mission, goals, and activities of The Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy, particularly focused on effective implementation and sustainability of the Policy Unit. Community Outreach Specialist The Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy’s mission is to serve, build capacity, and foster collaboration in Mississippi’s nonprofit and philanthropic communities. The MS Poverty Reduction Through Needs Assessment/Asset Mapping VISTA project seeks to identify, assess, and build the capacity of nonprofit organizations serving the needs of communities throughout the 82 counties in Mississippi, helping the nonprofit and philanthropic sector benefit un-served and under-served individuals, families, and children to bring them out of poverty, increase their education levels, enhance their economic well-being and stability, and ultimately strengthen the communities in which they live. Four (4) VISTA members contribute to the goals of the project over the course of one to three years by conducting surveys, telephone interviews, and site visits with nonprofit and community organizations to gather data about needs, identify gaps and challenges, and document resources and available (assets); researching best practices to eliminate and/or alleviate poverty; and conducting community conversations related to best practices. |
