There are some new numbers tied to the temporary casino opened on the Southside. After a strong summer for Caesars Virginia, the monthly intake has been slowly dropping as we move closer to the end of the year.

According to the gaming activity report from the Virginia Lotter, the temporary Caesars location raked in about $16.8 million in October. That's down from about $19.1 million in September., and quite a bit lower than the $21 million high in July.

ABC13 asked Danville's Chief Financial Officer Michael Adkins what this minor slump means for the city's yearly goal. He says that they're still significantly above where they need to be.

He says the casino only needs to win about $7 million a month for the city to hit its' fiscal year goal. The city is set to collect about $1.01 million from the casino in gaming taxes for the month of October.

In October, Caesars Virginia raked a little over $4 million more than the Hard Rock casino in Bristol and about $3.2 million less than the Rivers Casino in Portsmouth.

Officials say the casino will see seasonal trends depending on the weather and how well they do on weekends. ABC 13 reached out to the casino to see if that played a role in the recent drop, but haven't heard back.
