It was win No. 45 for eighth-year Roger Bacon head coach Mike Blaut, who has led the Spartans to three consecutive Miami Valley Conference titles, three-straight playoff appearances and the school's only career regional title and state Final Four berth.

Roger Bacon remains perfect against MVC-Scarlet division foes since joining the conference in 2019, improving to 13-0 overall.

Roger Bacon quarterback Jimmy Mumper threw three touchdowns Friday night in the Spartans' 30-7 win over Norwood.

After scoring just 23 points combined over its three-game losing streak, Roger Bacon's offense found some much-needed traction earlier and often against the Indians.

Roger Bacon senior quarterback Jimmy Mumper threw for three scores on the night, giving him five touchdown tosses over the last two games after firing a pair in last week's 24-14 loss to McNicholas. Mumper opened the scoring with a 62-yard touchdown pass to fellow senior Ty Doll on a third-and-36 to give the Spartans a lead they would not relinquish for the rest of the night. Sophomore running back Jason Stewart found the endzone for the first time in his young prep career to make it 14-0 Spartans after a quarter.

Roger Bacon played add-on in the second period, taking a commanding 28-0 lead into the intermission after Mumper hit Doll and senior Ben Bedinghaus for touchdowns. In the second half, Roger Bacon added a safety from senior Richard Allen that made it 30-0 before Norwood snapped the shutout in the fourth quarter.

Roger Bacon (2-4, 1-0 MVC-S) will return home to Bron Bacevich Memorial Stadium next week to host CHCA (2-4, 0-1 MVC-S). The Eagles lost their divisional opener to Purcell Marian Friday night, 29-15.
