In tonight's Four Corners program a veteran of Australia's intelligence services said that after interrogating an Iraqi prisoner and witnessing abuse last year while working with the Iraq Survey Group he informed the Department of Defence. Weeks later Senator Robert Hill told Parliament no Australians had been involved in the interrogation of Iraqi prisoners.

The Australian Government has admitted it has not asked and America has not said why it released alleged Al Qaeda trainee Mamdouh Habib after three years in detention. The Federal Government has sent copies of Mr Habib's televised claims of torture to Washington for further examination.

Qantas.

Singapore and Australia today reopened talks on a full open skies agreement that would deliver Singapore Airlines much greater access to the trans-Pacific market. Qantas is resisting the move, but Singapore insists it is in the best interests of passengers.
