The Institute for Interactive Media and Learning (IML) is recruiting for a Senior Lecturer to join the team. The position will be based at the centrally located UTS Campus in Ultimo and will be supervised by Associate Professor Franziska Trede.

The Institute for Interactive Media and Learning (IML) is the learning and teaching unit of the University of Technology Sydney. Its purpose is to create the conditions for teaching, learning and curricula that bring the best possible higher education experience and outcomes for our students.  This is achieved through working in partnership with Faculties, within and across Divisions and, where possible, with students, to build capacity and collaborative cultures.

Detailed Description

About the role:

The successful applicant will be part of the IML Teaching and Curriculum Team (TACT), providing leadership, guidance and support for academics and faculties in addressing strategic priorities for learning and teaching. You will also lead and facilitate broader professional learning activities, including projects that will significantly change our approach to learning and teaching. The role includes providing leadership in course-led professional practice curriculum and engaging collaboratively with faculties and course teams on the design and development of student learning experiences and the evaluation and improvement of learning and teaching.

The incumbent will take a leadership role in the IML Teaching and Curriculum Team in central learning and teaching development activities.

Role requirements include:
• Work collaboratively with the faculties, Divisions and other teams in IML on achieving strategic priorities in learning and teaching and course curriculum.
• Take a leadership role in engaging with University and Faculty groups and course teams on design and implementation of innovative, blended and professional practice based course and assessment approaches to transform the student learning experience
• Lead and manage teaching and educational development programs, including in Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching and Learning, strategic projects and initiatives, as required by the Lead, TACT and in collaboration with the Director of IML.
• Conduct and publish research into higher education that is relevant to the aims of IML and of benefit to UTS and the higher education community.
• Maintaining active membership of relevant professional societies concerned with learning and teaching in higher education

About you:
• PhD or equivalent experience and standing in higher education, learning design or a related area
• Demonstrated ability to successfully lead pedagogical change projects and teams, including managing project deadlines and staffing resources and supervising and/or mentoring others towards success
• Extensive experience in successfully leading the design, implementation and evaluation of systemic initiatives and academic programs that build learning, teaching and leadership capability, and enhance the development of communities in learning and teaching
• High level of expertise and track record in successfully leading initiatives to enhance the design of innovative, future-focused curriculum, and assessment to foster student learning
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively as a team leader or member and to work effectively with senior academic and divisional leaders and managers, and with academic and support staff across faculties

Remuneration/Salary

Base Salary Range: $131,534 - $151,056 (Level C)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is initially offered as 1FTE (5 days per week) on a fixed term basis through until 31 December 2023.
