As someone who has read a plethora of vampire books, both serious and silly, I obviously consider myself a 'fan' of the genre. From the very first chapter, this book had me sucked in and truly laughing out loud.

The authors are obviously well read and educated on vampire mythos and cultural history. For readers that are new to the genre, there will be plenty of tidbits in here that will both educate you and point you toward educational materials to seek out. For readers that are well-seasoned in exploring the vampire mythos, they'll find several witty and well placed references and anecdotes that will inspire a chuckle or a thoughtful "well played!".

For anyone looking for a fun and interesting read, I highly recommend this book. It's very well written, beautifully tongue-in-cheek and just enjoyable all around.

I got this because I'm a Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab fan and I love vampires. This is a fun book, and I like how it feels to play pretend that you live in a world where vampires are real. But I feel uncomfortable with the central dilemma that vampires can kill you, but somehow it's your fault if they do and it's your job to protect yourself. A lot of it was advocating for what would basically be an abusive relationship and feels like advice for how to navigate an abusive relationship, while at the same time firmly in denial that that's what it's doing. Having lived in an abusive household, this upset me a lot. I know a lot of people are okay with those elements in paranormal romance (and it's not like I don't like power differentials, but...) so those people should enjoy this book without ethical qualms. Anyone who shares my ethical qualms might also enjoy this book, they should just know what they're getting into so they're not upset out of the blue, looking up after every chapter to vent to a friend.

I think part of this is the result of the two different writers. There's a recurring strain in the book that vampire relationships are inherently kind of BDSM-y but reformed vampires are safe to date as long as you can navigate certain problems, and then there's another strain that says vampires are inherently dangerous and it's your job to navigate that. I feel like one of the writers held one opinion and the other held the opposing opinion and they just sort of blurred that together. Other than that, it was a fun sort of book and I could imagine I did live in that universe and fantasize about what I would do if I had my own vampire I was trying to court, and while I disagreed with lots of the advice I sort of wanted to write my own advice book, so in a way it doesn't matter if I shared the opinion of the book because I engaged with it whole-heartedly.

My friend Megan also read this book and was the one I shared my feelings with as I was reading it. She told me she felt like the book was written by vampires as vampire propaganda, so make of that what you will.

I admit I had high expectations for this book because they had a tie-in with my favorite perfume company. I was able to read excepts at their website and it was very interesting.

Too much of this book focuses on the "dating guide" aspect and not enough on vampire history, mythology, and world building. What is there is interesting, and I'd love to see more fiction set in this world, but...The book falls somewhat flat because the majority of it is common sense dating advice that would apply to any relationship. The vamp-specific parts are interesting, but some parts feel forced or like they were added to make the book longer.

Beautifully written and thoroughly researched. If a finer parody of vampire culture exists, I haven’t yet found it! Humor and history are well-blended here. The “dating guide” hook is a clever vehicle for the book’s delivery of a proper vampire “education”. Bravo/brava to the authors!

Quirky and fun, sartorial tone adds to the read. If Gothic romance had a sense of humor in a modern era, this would be it.

When I first picked up the book " Vampires Don't Sleep Alone," I thought that maybe it would be just a fun quick read to pass the time and that I would just treat it like any other summer beach book. Wow. I was so wrong. As soon as I read the first chapter I couldn't put the book down!
The book is written in a nonfiction format. It tells the reader exactly how he/she can obtain a Vampire lover. The authors definitely did their historical research on the creature of the night. They used direct references from different recorded historical events that have shown that vampires existed. There are even quite a few references from The Bible! With so many references I actually began to believe that I could find my own Vampire, If you are a lover of anything that has to do with the undead you need to buy this book. I have read it three times already and the book has passed through all of my friends. Maybe we will all get in our favorite vampire gear and hit the town and try to find our own creature of the night!

It's okay, somehow finished it even though I kept losing interest throughout the book.
