Oh my god SEGA, fix your rails over pitfall bullshit. Why must they keep it in the games? Seriously, it's never been fun to me, and it's always frustrating when you miss a homing attack/slip/something dumb and fall into shit Sonic can survive in. I really hope pitfalls doesn't downfall modern gameplay again. End rant.

Edit: Also, what happens when I don't combo? PITFALL? I really hope it notifies you to combo rather than expects you to.

The hell. Apologizes for double post.

Aside from the pitfalls under the rails, I loved the alternate paths you can take in the modern act of GHZ. That shit just looked cool, it reminded me of Colors.

    Observations for C.Sonic:

First of all, an awesome title card for both Sonics. However, notice there's no mention of acts? I think we're in for single act zones, ala every 3D game prior to Unleashed. I'm not complaining really, not if it means we get one or more full stages.

Proof that you only have to touch springs to activate them. No biggie really. Unless it does matter to you, in which case the game is ruined forever.

    NO UNCURLING!

It returns! I know it's been in all the 2D games, but the original crouching spindash is back!

Rankings for Classic Sonic. RUINED FOREVER take 2.

A look at one of the layout changes.

Don't worry. Rainbow rings and yellow ramps indicate where you can trick. And the old video only shows Sonic tricking straight after the Chopper chase. If you don't trick, you still land safely.

Good to see the alternate sections of levels. Makes the level seem much larger in width than I was expecting (THE INNUENDOS, THEY BURN!!).

Also, It may just be the crappy audio, but it kinda sounds like they've reverted back to the Unleashed/Colors bass-killing boost music. I hope its the former.

Was that a A + A homing attack? Feels so much better than Sonic Unleashed A + X homing attack felt so off, I never understood why they changed that...

..What the hell was that at 2:15? Sonic auto-snapped into the loop, despite being in the air.

Scripted path. In the older video he also uncurls (seemingly automatically) to run around the loop.

When he said the words "Sonic 2" I was gonna throw a rage fit, then he said spindash, and I was fine again.

Looking at the Modern video, did the tunnel before the rails get better in terms of visuals? I remember it just being dirt, and now it has grass and such.

Looks like it. In my post above showing the changes in the Classic footage you can see they added more detail to the already beautiful Green Hill. It's also worth mentioning that it looks like they've tweaked M.Sonic's jumping since Unleashed. It no longer looks so heavy.

A few spikes have been removed and some badniks are now platforms... makes me wonder if there is an easy difficulty in place.

On top of this there seems to be an instances where the background layout is changed to give more a view.

Other than this it just seems to be little changes (Sonic's animation when on a diagonal red spring doesn't rotate about)

What the hell is THAT, he tried to spindash there but instead did that... attack, I don't think that's a simple spin attack because of that green aura, it wasn't there when he showcased the spin attack near the S-tunnel.

  13. That is a good catch. What the hell is that?

I'm very happy after watching the video.

  14. Gah, this game looks so nice, very promising indeed. From looking at the classic gameplay video, it seems like they toned down the dust a little bit from the earlier footage, which is nice.

Strange how no one has come across any non-ring item boxes (Invincibility, Speed Shoes, Shield(s), 1-ups) in Classic Sonic gameplay. Since the guy said Sonic 2, I'm guessing no elementals.

Honestly, this might be THE GAME or THE OVER-HYPED. Sonic Generations' plot is questionable. Since we are well aware of how long games are now made in terms of levels, then what comes after Green Hill Zone? After all, this game will only consist of Classic and Modern Sonic gameplay, so it will be pretty pathetic to implement Sonic 2 and especially Sonic 3K stages without Tails or Knuckles in the picture. Knuckles and Tails appearing in cutscenes would be the only solution to the problem, which we thoroughly enjoyed in Sonic 3K every time Knuckles felt like being a smartass by trying to kill us.

This game might have 12-15 stages at the most, if not far less, in my opinion. From all the information SEGA has released about this game so far, it pretty much looks like it will be a remake of Sonic 1, along with 2 or 3 other titles, with the dreadful Modern Sonic being blasted into the past to meet up with Classic Sonic in the hopes of defeating that fat bastard who manages to survive every explosion known to man. Since this game will feature levels from the Classic, Dreamcast, and Modern eras, I assume that there will be a progression through time involving the 2 Sonics. But, how will these levels connect and progress from one to another? Not to mention, how will the game really make sense if only a few levels from each of the games will be recreated and jumbled into one incoherent mess? I'm not really ranting here, I'm just wondering whether or not this game will be 'complete', in every sense of the word. It seems like a cluster of random crap with no significant storyline or purpose, except for rehashing old greatness to win back the hearts of Sonic fans everywhere.

    All the bitches.

Unless you're autistic most games from the 80's-90's are only 2 hours long at most. RPG's were the only thing that had more than an hours content in them. Also I assume you didn't buy games either because they mostly cost anywhere from $45 to $70 back then. Games are longer, cheaper, and have more in-depth stories than ever now.

I remember. I also remember they took so long to complete because 1) I was a much crappier player back then, being a child and all, and 2) they had much less convenient saving features, just a few tries and lots of insta-deaths.

Yes. That is just as prevalent now as it was then. In fact, it's more prevalent than ever, in particular thanks to the extra price hike over the last generation.

You know what I miss? Arcadey games that you could technically beat in one sitting, but were fun enough to warrant replaying several times over. Well, I suppose "I miss" isn't quite accurate, since that sort of game is flourishing in the digital-download market, but...

Sonic games of late have been somewhere in the middle, really. The classics were short and arcadey; most post-Adventure titles aim for the days/weeks/months mentality with varying degrees of success. I'd still probably welcome this game (assuming it's good to begin with) either way, but I certainly wouldn't mind the arcadier side of the equation.

It's a demo, so they probably didn't need to mention acts.

I recall an extra life box in another video.
