About this event
Post-pandemic labor economy in SV and Italy
Since the pioneering phase, Italian engineers have come to the Silicon Valley contributing to its technological revolution. In the last decades, offshoring models have been successful with Silicon Valley-centered companies hiring engineers in Italy to develop their products; nevertheless, a physical presence in Silicon Valley was always deemed necessary. The explosion of remote work due to the pandemic questions whether physical presence remains necessary given that an infrastructure entirely focused on the impossibility of physical presence has been developed and exploited for more than a year. This panel will discuss the effect of the pandemic on the economy and geography of work in Silicon Valley and its relationship with Italy
