Three bikers killed while taking shelter from the rain under flyover


Tragic end: The car that ploughed into six motorcyclists under the NKVE flyover, killing three and injuring three others.

PETALING JAYA: Three motorcyclists were killed while three others suffered serious injuries when a driver, believed to be intoxicated, rammed his car into them on the North Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE).

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the driver lost control of the vehicle at KM19.6 of the NKVE and hit the six motorcyclists at 5.59am yesterday.

“The motorcyclists were seeking shelter from the rain underneath a flyover.

“Three were killed at the scene while three others have been rushed to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment,” he said in a statement.

The 26-year-old male driver has been detained for investigation under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“The driver’s blood alcohol level was beyond the legal limit. During the incident, he was driving to Cyberjaya from Kuala Lumpur.

“We urge witnesses to contact traffic investigating officer Insp R. Navalan at 014-253 6820 to assist in the investigation,” he said.
