BLT Black Box Project
Boise Little Theater is considering converting our rehearsal space into an alternative performance space and would love some feedback from our community.
This “black box” space would have a full lighting/sound system and comfortable, configurable seating that allows for an audience capacity of fifty. The space would still have an open floorplan and be usable for rehearsals, classes and other events.
The board’s hope is that not only would this space be a great place for new theater at BLT but also generate enough new income to pay for itself and provide an alternative revenue stream for the theater.
Some of the uses discussed by the board include:
- An alternate season of short plays and one acts to complement our main stage shows.
- Readings of plays being considered for future seasons.
- A space for new directors to work on a smaller scale before directing for the main stage.
- Rental of space to local theater companies without their own space.
- Rental of space to local businesses for meetings/events.
