Thousands gather at Dataran Merdeka for peaceful rally for Palestine


KUALA LUMPUR: A large crowd has gathered in a peaceful rally to show solidarity with the Palestinian people at Dataran Merdeka on Sunday (Oct 22).

Supporters of all races including foreigners had shown up as early as 9am for the rally, themed: "Freedom for Palestine", organised by non-governmental organisations (NGO) Viva Palestina Malaysia (VPM) and Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE).

Several activists from NGOs gave speeches calling for an end to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Police personnel on duty are keeping watch on the rally that is expected to end at 1pm.

As at 10.45pm, the crowd continued growing with hundreds carrying banners and shouting chants.
