Digital Media Doctor

Digital Media Doctor is a lightweight piece of software designed to help you test the performance and reliability of various removable storage devices, including cameras and USB Flash sticks.

The setup is quick, uneventful and does not require any special attention from your part. Upon launch, you are welcomed by a rugged and old-school interface but that is unlikely to give you any challenges. The app scans your system and detects removable devices connected that are displayed within the main window.

It is worth mentioning that the app can provide extra information about the removable devices, namely whether it is formatted, volume label and serial, if they are available. In the upper section, you can access various functions, such as Diagnostics, Benchmark or Repair, from the toolbar. In case you add another device, then you can hit the Rescan button to refresh.

Functionality-wise, the program is as simple as it looks. Consequentially, depending on what you have in mind, you can perform various tests, such as sequential, random and butterfly read and write diagnostics and benchmark. As you would expect, the app permits you to customize the number of blocks per read and length of the time to test.

At the same time, the application enables you to perform various repair operations, namely backup, wipe, format or restore. You can consider using the utility to recover photos, videos and other data that you lost due to various reasons.
