West Ham 'logical choice' for 2012 stadium move

West Ham's Karren Brady talks to BBC London about the club's desire to move to the Olympic Stadium after the Games, saying it would create "a positive, vibrant and ongoing legacy" for the site.

She also claims West Ham is the only club interested in the venue despite rumours of Spurs having talks with Olympic bosses.

Talking to BBC London 94.9's David Croft, she said: "We've made no secret of the fact we would be the best tenant and make the best use of the site where we can not only incorporate Premier League football, we can add athletics and we're in discussions with international cricket and rugby as well."

Ms Brady said the Olympic Stadium had not been built to last more than 25 years.

"The upkeep, maintenance and repairs would be incredibly expensive as well as converting it into usage for football. That would cost in the region of £150 million and £180 million."

She said West Ham was the only Premier League club interested in the stadium, which puts a question mark over rumours that Tottenham Hotspur have been in "informal talks" with the Olympic Park Legacy Company. The north London club has denied this.

Ms Brady said: "We are a natural, logical solution. We want to create a positive, vibrant ongoing legacy.

"Spurs have categorically denied they've had any talks or shown any interest - I don't think they would lie about that."
