Used to live in Italia. Vicino Napoli.
Or if you want really long winded and actually good, try Dirt Rag. Might be
hard to find over there though...
But yeah, Bike talks more, MBA is good for late night plane rides when
you're only reading for 20-30 minutes before you pass out.

By the time Google posts this the magazine bashing will be in full
effect. given the two choices, MBA will have more mountain biking
content. As I recall Bike is usually larger, but has road riding as
well as mountain biking. If you're not limited to those two, try Dirt
Rag (expensive, infrequent, but somehow charming).
Both are good - I'd go with Bike though because the spot MBA does is
filled better by some of the German magazines. Their test is both done
by riding and by goin to the lab to test fx. fork stiffness - really
cool and informative.

I only read one: MBA, but MBA won my heart when I noticed that their product
reviews sometimes bash the product reviewed, frequently award only two out of
five stars and seldom award five stars.
They're probably just setting me up and the reason they seldom award five stars
is that the advertisers are seldom willing to pay enough money....but it's
working on me.

Neither. The best is alt.mountain-bike as far as up to date
information goes. We have some good storytellers, poets,
photographers, product reviews, a few Zapataesque idiots, and letters
to the editor from the standard fare of complete morons.
JD
I agree that MBA seems a pretty decent read by buff book standards. My
only complaint is that they have an obsessive disdain for hardtails.
Now, I understand that squishies are fun to ride, but these guys don't
seem to have noticed that most XC riders are still on hardtails much of
the time. When they reviewed the new FSR S-Works (the "Brain" bike which
has been eclipsed by the massive onslaught of SPV technology on other
bicycles) they talked about how it was clearly a much better XC race
bike than any hardtail...except that it weighed 5 pounds more than the
Motobecane hardtail in that same issue, which also cost less than half
the FSR's asking price.
That said, they seem both entertaining and informative.

I live in Colorado, USA. On the western part of the state. You should
head up to Parco Nazionale Abruzzo. ( I think I spelled it right). There
is some riding near Opi, and Pescasserelli. It was great. We used to go
camping up there all the time. There is also some good riding in Sicilia.
I rode to the top of Etnea once. It was erupting, I dont think I should
have been up there. I know for sure that there are trails in Casserta.

Man, i'll show you how strange is our world!
I've been in aspen, colorado, last year, from november to end of january;
there he lives my best friend from here and a couple more friends, one from
rome who lives there since so long and one from, guess where, opi. The one
from opi is coming to italy now for a couple weeks, he's bringing me (i
hope) my santacruz bullit and he is a road runner, he owns some colnagos and
i'm gonna buy a pinarello for him. In two weeks i'm probably going to opi to
meet him.
You see, this sounds pretty strange to me, i will not wonder if you know
some of them...
Let me know where you live in colorado.

I second that, but MBA is the best printed mag because of their reviews. I
don't buy Bike magazine because I don't ride on the road (been hit by a truck -
once bitten, twice shy...) but if you're interested in polishing your english,
Dirt Rag might be your best bet. UK magazines tend to be nicer, though, as
well as more expensive.
-GABE-
Also, while this newsgroup may be a good place to learn some vernacular
English, a magazine should do a better job at teaching you *proper*
English. Both are good to have in your toolbox, but depending on your
goals, one or the other may be preferable.

But 'mountain bike magazines' don't.

That's a riot. Ragazines are written on an elementary school reading
level so the insipid morons who read them may be able to comprehend
them. Then again, it's obvious that some who have no comprehension or
grasp of the English language *try* to read those rags.
JD vernacular? that's a derby!
Simple may still be correct. True, most media uses simple words and
sentence structures, but at least they have editors and are mostly
correct. Generally speaking, unedited net sources have a higher
probability of being incorrect. That being said, I haven't read any of
the specific magazines in question, so I could be wrong regarding these
particular sources.
>
> JD vernacular? that's a derby!
I have no idea what that means, but when I read it, I keep hearing,
"He's a suitor!" from O Brother, Where Art Thou.
They are written on a third grade level for those who can only
read/write on a third grade level. That's why the ragazine reading
morons of this newsgroup who think all that is written in them is
fact, are so obviously stupid.

It's from the Three Stooges short, "Disorder in the Court".

Say what you will, but I'd just as soon read a magazine that has input

Interesting. One of my nice coworkers dug this up and sent it to me:

Marital Status: Single
Hobbies & Interests: Mountain biking, hiking, Trout fishing,

Oh really? Well, just to make sure you and your co worker aren't

Damn that is so fucking slimy! You post a public domain deviant profile of
yourself for the world to read and then you dime out JD at his place of work
'cause he posts it in a narrowly focused newsgroup! Fer crissakes, you
don't have any reason to believe any of the above correspondence was taking
place at work. And frankly, so what if it was? You don't have a clue what
his workplace rules and environment are. Of course that doesn't matter to
you, since the only reason to undertake such a lowlife maneuver is to feed
your own pathetic little ego by pretending to be the outraged moralist. For
the record, I've been known to browse the web on occasion at work, and I use
my office phone to call home once in a while -- all at US taxpayer expense!
Somehow I'm not that worried about court-martial proceedings.
I've never met JD, and I've never spoken to him. I've read many of his
posts here in AM-B and enjoyed much of what the man has to say. His
photography is outstanding -- the guy has a gift. Additionally, he hooked
me up with some absolutely awesome info on riding in Moab -- completely
unsolicited. (BTW, by unsolicited I mean I didn't ask him for it. I don't
want you to get confused with the definition you're probably used to seeing
on the "spank me circuit.") I'd love to have the opportunity to ride with
the guy. It sounds like it would be a blast and I might learn a few things.
Why you seem determined to take things beyond the artificial confines of
Usenet and affect the guy in the real world is just fuckin stupid. At some
point you open yourself up for a good old fashioned ass whuppin'!
I find it pretty damn funny that a guy renting huge space in a crystal
palace is lobbing boulders around at other people. C'mon, moral outrage
from a guy looking for "BDSM., spanking, breast torture" is just too much.
Am I the only one that sees the irony here? None of us are without warts
there Scotty-boy. Its bad enough you start bring his kid into it, but to
attempt to interfere with a guy's livelihood truly crosses the line.
Here's some advice:
- Give your bike/bikes away to charity. No doubt you're some poseur
gear-queer with 10K worth of bike gear who hasn't a clue how to ride it
(except for what he reads in the mags)
- Take the day off from your grueling job at a "major" drug store chain
- Wake up early
- Kill yourself
Like I needed a reason to stay away from Erie......
Tom

Indeed, have a great day Priester deviant.
Since you are so incredibly trolled that you feel it's neccessary to
contact someone's employer (like that will have any impact in this
case LOL) you should brace yourself for a favor being returned in the
same manner. Turn about is fair play, right spanky?
I wonder if that "MAJOR" drug store chain knows that they have such a
self-professed sexual deviant in their employ?
Even though you just stock the shelves, there is a certainly a bit of
liability involved with employing such a deviant after they have been
made aware of the depths of his depravity.
After all, they need to consider the inappropriate remarks that such
a self-professed spankmeister/breast torturer might make to customers
and the liability that they would incur in such a case since they were
made aware of the deviant's behavior.
After all, there are only so many "MAJOR" drug stores in Erie and
their cotact info is readily available on the internet.
Project lameass deviant continues while that hook continues to fester
three years after being set.
Just as the fools lips you are defending should be
Good luck!
Scottie....... I've got to say..........
As a reader/lurker to the NG for several years, you have earned the dubious
moniker of putz of all putzes.
You really need to get a life. May I suggest the newsgroup more fitting for
your type:
Alt.Ilovemyself
You're right, I'm sure the Grand Junction 911 command center promotes
it's operators to surf the internet and insult other internet users.
I should never have contacted the GJ city council.
>Of course that doesn't matter to
> you, since the only reason to undertake such a lowlife maneuver is to feed
> your own pathetic little ego by pretending to be the outraged moralist.
When I first came aboard this newsgroup around 3 years ago, everything
was fine. I asked a few questions, even emailed JD personally, and
his responses where just like anyone elses should be when asked a
question. Out of nowhere, insults started to fly about being a webtv
user (when he was himself, no less) and then the comments, not
necessarily towards me, but others also, about our bikes and so on and
so forth. I laugh when I see people like you stick up for him, but
then I read what you have to say, and see I shouldn't laugh to hard,
because you're acting alot like him. It is sad to see so many support
him, and act like him though. Alot of you talk tough on the internet,
but I'm sure it's much different in person.
> the record, I've been known to browse the web on occasion at work, and I use
> my office phone to call home once in a while -- all at US taxpayer expense!
> Somehow I'm not that worried about court-martial proceedings.
JD has posted a number of times from work in the past, and has been
called for it. Posting on topic information is fine, but when the
insults start, and digging into peoples lives and interest, then it
becomes personal, and if someone is doing it from work, and I'm
involved, then as Pete FAGerlin sad himself, turnabout is fair play.
Just so you know, in all fairness, when I contacted the GJ city
council, I said that I had no proof that this did happen on the job,
but rather was concerned that it had been, because its happened in the
past, and wanted to make sure it was not happening now.
> I've never met JD, and I've never spoken to him. I've read many of his

That says alot about you right there.........
>His
> photography is outstanding
His photography isn't anything anyone else could accomplish with a
digital camera. He has beautiful scenery and objects to photograph,
that's what makes it amazing.
> -- the guy has a gift.
Yeah, you got that right. Idiot of all time.
>Additionally, he hooked

People like you and him need to learn a lesson. Although my profile
is there for everyone to see, does that mean it is there for anyone to
take and use and abuse it? My shades are open right now, does that
mean it's ok for someone to come look inside my apartment? Yesterday,
I walked away to go to dinner, and obviously didn't shut my door hard
enough, because it was open when I came home. Did that make it ok for
someone to come and break in? These words that are being typed are
from someone, someone you wouldn't even know if you saw him. So why
would you, in your or anyone elses right mind, want to taunt or flame
away at someone you don't know? Imagine what the results could
be.....
> I find it pretty damn funny that a guy renting huge space in a crystal

People get to caught up into the internet being not real; if JD is
going to continue to do whatever he plans to do to me, then there
needs to be a consequence for it. If any of it was done while at
work, then why is it my fault? People need to think about their
actions.

Happy Thansgiving!
Once again, you are proving just how clueless and low you truly are.
ISPs don't lie, though you apparently do so frequently. Check them
and you will see that they are not from the City of GJs servers.
Another clue as to how hopelessly trolled you are is the fact that it
was not a coworker on AOL who provided that most excellent bit of
insight to your true nature, but was an innocent AM-B
bystander/lurker. I wonder if those council members will condiser
harassment charges as well... You need help and hopefully your local
constabulary will assist in your seeking some. Their victim's
assistance program will probably help, even though you are in the
habit of making yourself a victim of your own stupidity.
JD
My shades are open right now, does that

Did you post this "profile" on the wall in your apartment? When YOU put it
in a public location, it was PUBLIC.
> People need to think about their actions.
Guess you just got a lesson in that, eh?
It amazes me how the real Usenet losers suddely get all concerned about
people's employers only after their own dirt is revealed (usually after
they were stupid enough to make it public in the first place). You can
take your place next to Mike Vandeman in that small group of waste who
have sunk to that level.
