AA Captures TaungPyo Let Yar Camp, Discovers Soldiers Corpses and Seizes Substantial Arms Cache

The Arakan Army (AA) successfully seized control of the TaungPyo Let Yar camp located near the Bangladesh border in the northern region of Maungdaw Township, Rakhine Stateon the evening of February 4th.

In the midst of the fierce struggle for control over the TaungPyo Let Yar camp, many Junta soldiers corpses were discovered alongside the seizure of a significant stockpile of weapons and ammunition, AA said.

As per a declaration issued by the Three Brotherhood Alliance on February 4th, (AA is a participant), a number of  AA fighters sacrificed their lives in the line of duty for the country and its people.

At the break of dawn on February 4th, AA launched simultaneous offensives against the two strategically vital remaining camps, TaungPyo Let Wae and TaungPyo Let Yar, situated in the northern region of Maungdaw Township.

The confrontation was  marked by the intense reverberation of gunfire and artillery shells along the border, as documented in both video footage and reports from Bangladeshi media outlets.

Amidst the clash, approximately 60 border police and soldiers under the command of the  Military Council fled across the border into Bangladesh, carrying their weapons. Subsequently they surrendered these weapons to the Bangladesh Border Guard Force.

Several military bases have now been captured along Myanmar’s western borders with Bangladesh and India.

AA issued an ultimatum to the remaining Junta soldiers in the TaungPyo Let Wae camp, urging them to surrender promptly if they wish to safeguard their lives.

The statement also revealed ongoing offensives by AA targeting specific camps in Mrauk-U, Minbya, and Kyauktaw townships in Rakhine State, where the Junta is anticipated to face inevitable defeat.

In Ponnagyun Township, a clash erupted between a Junta’s military column advancing from the river, and AA. Simultaneously, a Junta naval warship at Shwe Min Gan jetty in Sittwe Township continuously launched artillery shells at the battleground. The Junta’s 354th Light Infantry Battalion, based in Sittwe, continued firing artillery shells during the night.

At 6:40 AM, a Military Council base situated atop Thein Taung Pagoda hill in Ramree Township launched artillery shells on two separate occasions, aiming at residential areas in Ramree. As the  Daily battles between Junta troops and resistance forces are also happening in other regions where opposition to the military regime is gaining momentum.
