Hi netters,

I'm possibly going to get a job managing web pages for a company.
Basically, the work will involve having the technical know-how of creating
and managing www pages. Not having any real experience with html, or with
the technicalities of the protocols (tcp/ip, ?), I'm going to have to do
some studying in that area.

So, as the html standard (and this new java-technology) is evolving at a
pace close to that of the speed of light, what is _currently_ the most
up-to-date book on the tehnology behind the world wide web? Are there any
good on-line references? How much of the protocol stuff will I probably
need to know and are there separate books for that?

As I might need to order the books (they don't have all the books here in
the bookstores of Helsinki, Finland), I'd appreciate ISBN numbers...

I'm forever grateful for any info!

-Patrik

The WebDev pages are themselves a subset of the Technotes:

A good place to have on your bookmark list is:

http://www.w3.org

That is the URL for the World Wide Web Consortium. They are the controlling entity
for Web standards. You can get full tutuorials, and language descriptions there.

Good luck with your job.
