About this ebook

They’ll find a way to work together. A young boy’s life depends on it.

Penelope Ramos has dreamed of being a K-9 search-and-rescue handler since she was a little girl. Armed with a quick mind and her German shepherd, Havoc, she rides into Maple Falls, Vermont, determined to get her certification. She isn’t expecting the gruff, unreadable park ranger assigned to evaluate her skills.

Park ranger Jay Gosling is a pro. It’s clear to him that neither Penelope nor her unpredictable canine has what it takes…although his boss feels otherwise. Whatever. Jay will never have to work with them and he has half a mind to escort them both right out of town. But when a young boy goes missing, he doesn’t have that luxury.

Working side by side tests their tentative peace, but Jay and Penelope are together on one thing: they’ll both do whatever it takes to find the missing child—before it’s too late.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This was a little slow in spots but altogether it was a good story. Penelope comes to Maple Falls for two reasons, she just broke up with her boyfriend and to qualify for Search and Rescue (SAR). Unfortunately Penelope makes the bad choice of things. She throws items that her ex-boyfriend gave her and puts them in a grill that was located in a wildlife park. The bad choice, well her dog Havoc knocks into her and she falls on the grill. The grill was old and rusted. The fire spread to a building that quickly catches on fire. Local Parker Rancher Jay Gosling consoles a teary woman. She must have been devastated to comes across the fire. When he tried to get information that will hopefully lead to the arsonist (that burnt down his building with all the equipment that he spent a year doing fund-raising for!), the beautiful woman admits that it was she not someone else. Jay sees red!!!! He immediately arrests her and takes her to the town's jail. This is not the first hurdle that these two will face. Jay was in SAR and lost his dog. Seeing Penelope and Havoc causes a lot of internal turmoil for the ranger. There is a lot of miscommunication on both sides. I really felt for both of them. Seeing how the book was written in a dual POV format, really helped me to fully understand Jay and the strife that he was going through. This is a sexy read so I would not recommend this to anyone under the age of 18. I hope that the author considers writing more stories as she did a great job of teasing with Havoc's two siblings that were donated to the newly formed SAR unit in Maple Falls. Besides we need Nick's and Charlie's story(s). Hint

Penelope's trip to Maple Falls is two fold, firstly to get away from everything after breaking up with a douche canoe as well getting her K-9 Search and Rescue Air Scent Handler evaluation but it all goes wrong the first day she arrives. Now she is considered a fire bug, Jay the hot and ridiculously grumpy Ranger is her boss while she helps rebuild what she burnt down and she is living next door to the Sheriff. This book has plenty if laughs as well as frustrations mainly with Jay to be honest as everyone else knows what he should do and how he feels apart from him, thankfully both he and Penelope have his gramps, Nick who can also test her on her evaluation and a new best friend Charlie to keep an eye on her and Jay and hopefully make sure Jay finally moves von from the past and embraces a future with Penelope. The people of Maple Falls are protective of their town and people, but once they let you in your there for life and I do hope we get more books in the series I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Vermont K-9 Search and Rescue Romance This romance novel is based around a young woman and the German Shepherd she has trained for Search and Rescue work. She goes to Vermont from her New York home for further training and testing and meets a handsome Park Ranger under adverse circumstances. The plot is good, but a little predictable. I would have liked more about the dog and his training and work with less about the Ranger and his angst. There is some bad language, but not much. There are some bedroom scenes that are easily skipped over, but the physical attraction does not dominate the book. The ending was nicely done and totally expected. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.
