  1. So now, Dear Jumble Players, we look to a New Year. One we pray will be a better one than the one we just left behind. One where our hearts hold dear the memories of those who didn’t survive. And one where even though we’re still facing an unbearably cruel war against the plague that’s been attacking us…we have hope. So, today is the beginning…And here’s to a brighter tomorrow…🥂🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. Here are 10 Fun Facts about: THE SUN

    10. The temperature inside the Sun can reach 15 million degrees Celsius. Energy is generated at the Sun’s core, by nuclear fusion, as Hydrogen converts to Helium.
    9. The Sun’s surface area is 11,990 times that of the Earth’s.
    8. Earth orbits the Sun at an average distance of 92,955,807 miles (149,597,870 kilometers).
    7. The Sun is composed of hydrogen (70%) and Helium (28%).
    6. Light from the Sun takes eight minutes to reach Earth.
    5. It takes the Sun 225-250 million years to complete an orbit of the center of the Milky Way.
    4. The Sun is middle-aged. In human terms, it is about 40 years old.
    3. Although invisible to the naked eye, the Sun’s surface features a few dark areas called sunspots. These pockets of magnetism interact with the Earth’s atmosphere, creating the so-called aurora borealis.
    2. The Sun is responsible for 45 percent of the tidal forces generated on Earth – the Moon does the rest.
    1. The sun is 400,000 times brighter than a full Moon and brighter than 85 percent of the stars in the Milky Way!

  4. Good Morning, Everyone… ☀️”FLARE…AND FLARE ALIKE…”☀️

🎶 Little Darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting..Little Darling, it seems like years since it’s been clear…Here comes the SUN…do, do, do…Here comes the SUN…And I say it’s all right…🎶 “Here Comrs The Sun” – The Beatles 1969

☀️ I’m nowhere near a Science buff, it’s not my cup of tea,
It’s not that I’m a FLUFF type, it just never interested me
No RHINO in a China Shop, (yes…bull…I’m well aware)
Just bringing out the point that come to Science?…I’m not there…
So not to do some DAMAGE here, I’m gonna take a pass,
I’ve got the world out on a STRING, but sun, magnets and gas?
I know some are enthralled by it, eruptions…atoms split…
But no one ever said of me…”She HAS A “FLARE” FOR IT”! ☀️

Ok, so I’m going to be honest here. Was I hoping for a Science themed puzzle to kick off the New Year? Did I get excited when I saw what I’d be writing about? Do I know the difference between magnetic energy and say…magnetic personalities? Uh…NI, I don’t…NI, I didn’t…and FE, what can I say? I’m just not DRAWN to it…And it’s kind of IRONic, don’t you think? That after ALLOY this time…I get stuck with the Science puzzle… Oh well…the GLOW must go on…and you know me…I can take the HEAT…

So, our words. Three old favorites, but with three new anagrams. And it’s RHINO that seems to be horning in this morning as the first new word of the year. So I welcome you Rhino, to the Jumble Family of Words…And Rhino you’re going to like it here…

And Jeff’s first cartoon of 2021? Here comes the Sun! But since I’ve already told you how I’ve never had a FLARE for this sort of thing, I’ll just offer you this link… https://tinyurl.com/882duco. Should you take a SHINE to it…fine. If not, trust me, that’s fine too. Far be it from me to throw you any SHADE. But I will tell you that what we do have here this morning is Sol, erupting at the Parker Solar Probe,(Can you see it there, in the upper right hand corner)? https://tinyurl.com/y968cu3s while blowing his own horn…Why? Because he HAS A “FLARE” FOR IT… https://tinyurl.com/ydbp8xlm

So…There you have it, Folks…Done. And I’ll leave you with something I heard about Earth’s Magnetic Field. Evidence shows that it’s weakening…No, really…it’s true… Supposedly CURRENT events have made it less ATTRACTIVE…(And to think the year’s just started)! Hoping you all have a wonderful New Years Day…Be blessed, be well…and stay safe out there…☀️🧲🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. 🦏 Yes, she HAS A FLAIR FOR IT, he thought to himself…as he watched her do DAMAGE control on the broken STRING of the toy RHINO, by replacing it with that FLUFF material…🦏

🎍They told her to use RHINO Skin, plant’s DAMAGE it would mend,
Then tie them with the strongest STRING…so that they wouldn’t bend
They felt soft like a piece of FLUFF, and proud she must admit…
‘Cause in the end she heard them say…”She HAS A FLAIR FOR IT”!🎍

  6. Good 2021 morning Had a nice start for the new year. I made quick work of jumble on both ends. Really enjoyed Mike and Angela’s work. Not only did I learn something but had good music besides. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

  7. Hi Everyone –
RHINO was unsolvable until I could back in. I even looked to see if Horin was a word, and it’s actually in the urban dictionary and also has some Japanese meanings. I arrived at the answer by playing around with the three and two-letter words first.
Wishing all a happy day and year.

    • Hi Caroline. I think I’ll take a look at Horin myself! But spellcheck is giving me a hard time here just trying to type it! 😉 Did you have trouble too?…I’m glad you stuck with it though…it’s a very cute play on words. Wishing you a happy day too, Caroline. Enjoy! ☀️🙋🏻‍♀️

      • No, I typed the word in Google, which has a cute birdie today, and there was no spellcheck.

        • Yes, I saw him this morning…And he’s tweeting 2021 too! 😂 I was having trouble trying to type it here, in Word Press. They’re strict! 😂 But speaking of “things in nature that I don’t like”…😉 I’m sure you’ve heard about the killer squirrels in Queens? Yikes! The poor people are afraid to leave their houses…and the city’s telling them to deal with it themselves! Squirrels! The things nightmares are made of! 🐿🙋🏻‍♀️

        • You haven’t? I’ll send you the story…Demons, I tell you, demons! 😱🙋🏻‍♀️

        • One of the many articles out there. When I saw it on the news, I was stunned. There was blood all over the woman’s driveway! Yikes, indeed! 😱 And you may remember me telling you how many I have around here. Tons of them…As if I didn’t have reason enough to dislike them already! https://tinyurl.com/yaktlzu4 🐿🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. I too paused at rhino since I wasn’t sure if it was considered a whole word all by itself or an abbreviation. I managed to get the cartoon answer by figuring it out the short words first. Wishing all of you a very Happy & Healthy New Year! 🎉

    • Hi Betty. You and Caroline both using the little words to get to the solve…You ladies do have a certain FLARE for this! 😉 And I wish you and yours a Happy and Healthy one too, Betty! ☀️🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. I joined the crowd, wondering if rhino was a real word or not,and trying to make it into a misspelled honor. After checking on rhino, the other anagrams were a snap,as were the 2 little words, for and it,quickly followed by the “has a flare for it” complete solution.
All in all a successful Jumble puzzle start to the New Year, which has to be a better year than 2020, doesn’t it?

    • Hey Professor. I have to admit that I didn’t give Rhino a second thought..I just never looked at it as being a stumper. But I guess with this being it’s maiden voyage into the Jumble SEE, it might be. And as Betty said, whether or not it stands on its own as a legit word does come into play. And as far as better than 20 – -? (I’m determined not to mention it anymore)! Yes, it HAS to be. I keep praying! Have a good one, Prof…and all the best to you and yours…☀️🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. Hi all – No problem with the words; seeing the ING combo showed STRING.
Thought the answer might say HAD A BLAST, but reading the “magnetic energy” showed that they were going for FLARE and the rest followed.

🎵”Got a feeling ‘21 is going to be a good year
Especially if you and me see it in together…
I had no reason to be over-optimistic
But somehow when you smiled I could brave bad weather”🎵
    (From The Who’s “Tommy”)
Well, I guess we can hope, anyway!

Good wishes and Happy New Year to everyone.

“The slow holiday news reports were full of FLUFF until the STRING of reports about the DAMAGE caused by the escaped RHINO came flooding in.”

🎵”All is quiet on New Year’s Day
A world in white gets underway
I want to be with you
Be with you night and day
Nothing changes on New Year’s Day”🎵 (U2, “New Year’s Day”)

    • If ONLY we had slow news days, right? It’s been a long time. Let’s just pray that 🎶Here comes the sun🎶 rings true! Enjoy your day, Steve. Be well and stay safe…☀️🙋🏻‍♀️

  11. Nice Jumble to start a nice new year. No problem with any of it, a good beginning! Some of you seem a little ‘squirrelly’ today but don’t fear the rodents. Our dog chases them all the time and never catches them. There was a time when she chased one up a tree and it tried to jump to a new branch, falling to the ground and landing on a shocked dog!!! It all ended well.
Be optimistic. Life can slowly get back to normal. Thanks again to Mike and Angela!

    • Squirrelly? LOL! I’m figuring you’ve never had a personal encounter with one of the little devils! I wouldn’t be CRITTERsizing if I didn’t know from whence I speak! Thanks for the Shout Out, Mig…and have a good one! 🐿😱🙋🏻‍♀️

  12. Jumble puzzles are a great way to start the day. Thanks for this opportunity to win a calendar!
