This Is How You Walk On

We are an all boys primary school located in the town of Charleville in County Cork. We are a mainstream school with a number of special classes attached. We have approximately 200 pupils in our school. Our Mainstream Classes accept boys from 2nd to 6th Classes. Our Special Classes comprise of a Junior ASD Class, a Senior ASD Class as well as a Multiple Disabilities Class.

 

The last two years have been difficult for us all.  Over the past year we undertook a project to professionally record a song. We engaged in this project for various reasons. In the past our school regularly engaged in various activities which celebrated the Arts such as our annual Christmas Concert, school choir, etc. As a result of COVID a lot of these events have been cancelled. A member of our staff, Keith Hanley, came across 'This Is How You Walk On' by Garry Lightbody (of Snow Patrol). We felt that this song was ideal as the lyrics could be applied to the situation we are in today; that is walking on from the pandemic. Keith has been instrumental in leading this project and bringing it to fruition. Keith has great experience in the industry having won the RTE's The Voice of Ireland in 2013. 

Launch

We are delighted to announce the launch of 'This Is How You Walk On' by Charleville CBS Primary will take place on Friday, November 5.

All funds raised from this project will go towards the costs associated with the project as well as towards three very worthy causes:

Sponsored Walk

The day will begin with a sponsored walk. All pupils and families are invited to join us as we 'walk on' with our lives following the COVID pandemic! We will meet at the Town Plaza at 11.30am. The walk will finish at the school at 1.00pm where all will be invited into the school yard for the official launch. 

Cover Art

Well done to Ian Kedsziorek who designed the winning artwork for the song. The artwork will be used on the cover of the CD as well as on all online platforms and all other promotional materials. Many thanks to Adrian and Esie at Da Vinci Creative for their assistance in the design and formatting. 

CD

We have ordered a limited number of CDs. Copies of the CD will be available to purchase on the day of the launch at a cost of €10. 

Online Platforms

We are in the process of uploading the song on to the popular music stream platforms such as iTunes and Spotify. The song will be available from November 5.
