  1. Good Morning, Everyone. I hope this finds you well…

    🏃🏻‍♀️AND MILES TO GO…BEFORE I SLEEP…🏃🏻‍♀️

    🎶 I’m a-walkin’ in the rain…Tears are fallin’ and I FEEL A PAIN…A-wishin’ you were here by me…To end this misery…And I wonder where she will stay…my little RUNAWAY..🎶 “Runaway” – Del Shannon 1961 https://tinyurl.com/kshj7btc

🏃🏻‍♀️She loved to run a marathon, and she was pretty fast,
Last time she beat out SIXTY girls, but all good things can’t last…
Like CURRY has its fire, but it’s SAVORY just the same,
    A runner’s life eventually becomes a young girl’s game…
The competition JUNGLE-like, but so much you can force…
Before reality tells you…it definitely RAN ITS COURSE…🏃🏻‍♀️

When I first glanced at the puzzle this morning, my mind immediately went to Serena Williams. Yes, I know the theme centers on a runner, not a tennis player, but with Serena, on Wednesday, withdrawing from the US Open, it just hit a nerve. I can’t help but wonder if this is the first step towards her retiring from competitive play. Sad…

Ok, our words…We’ve RUN through them all before…so they’re LONG in the tooth, so to speak. And a few of the guys blinked at SAVORY, but it was no SWEET, I mean sweat…

So…We find ourselves overhearing a conversation between our female Marathon runner and a man, (who may be a fellow-runner, since he’s in running shorts)…who’s wondering if she regrets retiring…Hanging on the wall, are photographs and the many rewards of her career…But our girl’s stating that the retirement was all for the best…because her knees just couldn’t handle the WEIGHT of it all…and she’d RUN enough COURSES in her time…Bottom line? Her career for sure RAN ITS COURSE! https://tinyurl.com/yder2n2d Nice FINISH, David! Clever as always!

Jeff’s Gems? The photo at bottom left shows our girl running as #17. And of COURSE, the tank top she’s wearing right now, reads 26.2 , the Marathon logo…since a Marathon race is 26.2 miles… https://tinyurl.com/5fh8nzyd But the question is…Is she someone we should know, or just a RUN of the mill character? BEATS me, I don’t know much about Marathoners…But if any of you do, please write in and let me know…

So, There you have it, Folks..Done. Have a good one, Everybody. Be well, stay safe…and always stay the COURSE…🏃🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. No difficulty today!
I ran several marathons in the day and they are HARD and pain inducing. Still glad I did it…..
The Js this week have not been hard. I look forward to what the boys come up with on Sunday.
There’s a chance the Dodgers can pick up a game on SF tonight but we will see.

    • I agree, Mig…it’s been an easy, breezy week. Tomorrow? No SWEAT! 😉 Enjoy your night! 🏃🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. 🍛 He ordered SIXTY jars of the CURRY-infused “SAVORY JUNGLE” Sauce, but by the time it was delivered, the demand for it RAN ITS COURSE! 🍛

🤷🏻‍♀️ 🤷🏻‍♂️They both enjoyed the CURRY…SAVORY with the right bite,
The decor of the restaurant, a JUNGLE-themed delight…
But minutes on the clock? The SIXTY of them? Slow…because,
The both of them were well aware…this date def RAN ITS COURSE!🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️

  4. Today is NATIONAL RED WINE DAY!…WINE not? Salute! Cin Cin! 🍷🍷NOYEJ! 🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. Yes, an easy one today…with a blind solve and easy anagrams….Now will move on to the three “stumpers from the past” you sent.

    • Hi Terry. Yes, another easy one. But I didn’t send the additional 3 words. That’s something Mike adds in. And no stress…they’re good ones, but they’re not stumpers at all! 😉 Have a good one, Terry. Be well and stay safe…🏃🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. One of those days where the three word 3 3 6 formation gave me the blind solve.
Great song, Bonnie Raitt did a really nice version also.

      • Thanks, Angela! That was great to see, goes back quite a few years. I’m sure I saw it when it originally aired.

        • YVW, Don. She definitely took it in another direction. YouTube’s amazing, isn’t it? 🎶🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Sorry this version comes in a distant second at best. Most times you change the tempo from the original it’s not as good. When Nats daughter did her father’s songs, it wasn’t near as good because she changed his tempo to a lot of his tunes. The part that was awe inspiring was when she did the duet with a life size screen of him. That’s just my opinion. Take care.

        • I feel the same, Paul. There’s really no comparing the two. They’re totally different from one another. But, as the saying goes, different strokes…etc. Bonnie put her own spin on it, and that’s fine. Natalie Cole? Another story altogether…She had a good voice…but I think she was just chasing after her Father’s memory. An emotional thing. I can’t knock it though, because I’d probably do the same…Father-daughter issues…they’re tough. Who knows…But those duet things? Especially ”Unforgettable”? Definitely amazing…🎶🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Good morning. Breezed through the words but failed on the brilliant cartoon answer. Maybe I should have had coffee first or my blueberries. Loved your song choice Angela. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Paul. I think it’s a brilliant solve too. Cute and clever…So..Coffee..☕️or blueberries? 🫐 ..Maybe both? 😉 Glad you enjoyed the song, Paul. Tk you…And stay well and safe out there…It’s STILL raining here…🏃🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. A pretty tame limerick today so far. I’ll see if I can come up with something a bit racier later.

Marathons have made her so tough
The courses are rugged and rough
As she looks at those prizes
    She just realizes
    Her knees are saying enough!

Angela, talking of Serena – yet again this year, we won’t be making our trip to the US Open next week. I love the drive through NY and PA, then turning east at the Delaware Gap and into NJ and of course the ride on the subway or Long Island Railroad, depending on where we stay, to the grounds at Flushing and all the excitement. It’s a great tournament and we’ve got some great young Canadian players to watch – on TV this year!

    • Hi Helen…A bit racier? 👏🏻👏🏻Well played. Once again, there’s a little piece of your train of thought in a few of my limericks…and I can’t choose…so I’m just throwing them out there…

As for the Open…it’s sad that so much of what was the norm is no longer doable for us. And I’m sorry to hear about your being unable to come here. It’s funny, the way you speak of it makes it sound so “glamorous”…I guess we’re jaded here…but TBH? If it’s any consolation, you’d not want to take the subway these days…things have drastically changed. But yes, being there is so exciting…Let’s hope and pray for next year…🙏🏻 and yes, at least we have TV…🙋🏻‍♀️

🏃🏻‍♀️The running has taken its toll,
And it’s time to slow down to a stroll…
      Those Marathon days?
      She’s now parting ways…
The decision is good for her sole! 🏃🏻‍♀️

🏃🏻‍♀️Our Marathon girl’s reached her peak,
Got the accolades that she did seek…
Now it’s time that she quit,
      Because she sees fit…
To go out on a winning streak!🏃🏻‍♀️

🏃🏻‍♀️With the thousands of miles she’s run,
Hurting knees, sad to say have begun…
So it’s time that she face,
That she’s run her last race…
And those Marathon days are now done…🏃🏻‍♀️

  9. A surprisingly easy Monday level puzzle on a Saturday w no problem on the anagrams, not even savory, and an instant blind solve on the cartoon solution, after debating between ran and run its course.Maybe being at home this weekend and not getting up to watch the twins helped.

    • Definitely an easy go of it today, Professor. Enjoy your day of leisure! 🏃🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. Ran away with Jumble this morning. Easy solve on both the anagrams and the cartoon answer. It’s been a good week. Wishing all a good day. It’s gorgeous here today 70’s – our summer is arriving in the Bay Area.

    • Ran away! Nicely done! Enjoy your beautiful weather, Betty! 🏃🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Hi Valerie. Sorry to hear that. If you need any help, send me the words, and I’ll give you a hand. 🙋🏻‍♀️
