Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
The obstacles to improving student learning outcomes via educational research contribute to the oft-lamented research to practice gap. However, there are schools and districts that have found success in working with universities and researchers as they work together, spanning boundaries to become school-university partners and forming research-practice partnerships (RPPs). This panel session will go beyond the title to look at the constraints and affordances of developing short- and long-term partnerships, and how to frame schools’ assessment and accountability concerns when approaching them from a research perspective. Panelists will share their experience as boundary-spanning researchers and practitioners to discuss RPPs in light of accountability, assessment, evaluation, and research in the schools.
