Completely re-designed for this season, the Sight is aimed at riders looking for a more easy-going all-terrain board with a freeride-focused ride. Built around a tapered directional shape, it combines effortless float in the pow with a predictable and powerful performance on the piste, creating the perfect riding characteristics that let you explore the whole resort. Although the Sight has been designed and built to give a pretty mellow ride, it doesn't sacrifice its performance to deliver that ride. The Sight's versatile Cross Profile, Quadratic sidecut and high-quality construction ensure that this is one board you can depend on if you need to or want to push it a little bit harder. So to summerise the Sight, if you're after an everyday riding board that's going to let you get out and explore what the mountains have to offer, a board that's going to be mellow to ride, but when you want a bit more it's going to be on tap, then the new Sight
Rider Style
The Sight is aimed at freeride focussed all-terrain riders who prefer a more mellow board for riding the piste and the pow.
Shape Overview
The Sight is built around a fully directional tapered shape. Featuring 3mm of taper and 2cm setback on the stance, its fully directional outline is optimised for riding in one direction. The fuller nose profile dispatches powder effortlessly and blasts through crud and chop. The slight taper gives a predictable feel through the carve and perfectly harmonises with the Quadratic sidecut to deliver a stable and solid carve. The Quadratic sidecut is formed from a blend of elliptic curves for easy turn initiation, effortless direction changes and fluid edge-to-edge transitions.
Profile
The Sight's Cross Profile features a dominant camber area throughout most of the board's length. This longer camber creates stability at high speeds and ensures that the board stays locked through the carve. At the tips of the board, rocker zones create a floaty overall ride whilst also creating a bit more of a playful feel, underpinning the Sight's more easy-going nature.
Construction
Internally the Sight's construction is headed up by the advanced Popster Aspen Strong Core. This versatile Aspen core features CNC-selected high-density wood strips under the inserts and rail zones, delivering improved impact resistance and a more predictable flex. That flex is further enhanced with the Popster profiling; this maximises the natural snap and pop of the wood through the length to give enhanced control and feel. Salomon then matches this to a more playful low-density bi-ax weave glass to give the Sight a playful and ultra-smooth ride. Now to smooth out that ride even further and dampen high-frequency vibrations, Salomon fit their Royal Cork Rails. This innovative sidewall design places cork strips between the edges and the sidewall and helps dampen vibrations while protecting the edges from significant impacts.
Base
To finish off the Sight's versatile construction, Salomon utilises their low maintenance and easy-to-repair Extruded EG Base. This durable base material is a harder compound than the regular extruded base material; Extruded EG takes the easy maintenance of a non-sintered base and adds Electra for increased gliding characteristics.
