A movie I first learned about while researching Alien Resurrection and reading Joss Whedon say "I never wrote anything in the script about them fighting a big Pumpkinhead looking monster." - Pumpkinhead is the directorial debut of Stan Winston, and indeed (blog post) the Newborn Xenomorph bears a striking resemblance to the titular monster, Pumpkinhead. With the tail and the curve of Pumpkinhead's chin, it could be surmised it's design was partially inspired sci-fi movies by the Xeno, but that's neither here nor there. It's a movie about teens dying! AMAZING!
