Amputee Golden Retriever Running With Four Legs in Dream Goes Viral

An amputee dog named Daisy has left people in tears online after a video of her running on all fours in her dream went viral on social media.

In a video shared by the dog's owner on TikTok on Sunday, under the username Thetripawdtwins, the rescue golden retriever can be seen peacefully sleeping on the carpet, moving all her limbs, including the amputated one, as if she still was intact in her dreams.

The viral clip comes with a heartfelt caption that says: "She is so happy and healthy as a Tripawd, but when this happens my heart hurts a bit."

According to the 2020 Amputee Dogs Quality of Life survey, carried out by Tripawds, the most common reasons why dogs lose their limbs include cancer and accidents, at more than 50 percent and almost 30 percent respectively.

Dogs are easily adaptable animals, and about 35 percent of respondents said it took a week to adapt to limb-loss, with the rest replying it took from two weeks to two months.

In this survey, most dogs did not experience any kind of changes in their behavior after having their limb amputated.

The survey also shows that it's more common for dogs to lose their front limbs rather than the rear ones, with about 60 percent of surveyed dog owners saying their dog had lost a front limb and 40 percent replying it was a hind leg.
