While Legendary pictures made the beast much taller (and wider) for American audiences, Toho was hard at work designing a reboot for the franchise. The creature is much taller (and longer) (blog post) for Japanese audiences. It's also action movies a very talky picture.. but shouldn't we expect that by now?
