Smoky Mountain Vacation - 2007

My husband and I took a half-day train excursion to Nantahala Gorge. I took this photo leaning over the side of the train. Our seats were in the fancy Club Car, but my husband and I spent all of our train ride standing in-between the cars, where they connect to each other.

The people in Bryson City remind me of the folks from Mayberry, in the Andy Griffith show (one of my favorite shows). Every day when the train leaves, the locals know the schedule and they line the street and wave good-bye to the passengers. We could see them out the train window and of course we were all waving back. Even people working in a second story office building were waving to us and there was a sign in the window "Have a good trip!"   Next Page...
