Ride on the route of the 2022 Giro d’Italia!
Balatonfondo road cycling granfondo is created to commemorate the Big Start of the Giro d’Italia 2022 in Hungary. Participants can ride on the same roads as used for the second stage of the Giro, won by Mark Cevendish in Balatonfüred.Road will be fully closed from the traffic (see details in special regulations)!
The first Balatonfondo including the Mediofondo, will held on 01.05.2023, starting from the capital of the Lake Balaton, Balatonfüred. The distance is 60 km, with 800 m elevation through the picturesque landscape of the Balaton Uplands National Park.

NEVEZÉS:
Starting fee includes:
- full closed roads for the riders at least with 30 km/h average. A special marked car will do the route with 30 km/g average pace. If the special car overlapping a rider, then she/he is out of the full road closure. The rider can continue until the finish on partly closed roads.
- 3 feed zones (2 on the course, 1 in the finish area)
- chip timing
- start number
- trophies in many different age categories (see below)
- 1 pcs of cycling bidon
- 1 energy gel as part of the starting package
- medical assistance during the race and in the start/finish area
- neutral cars during the race. two neutral car will follow the granfondo. In case of material problem, they can help you to fix it. In case the rider is not able to continue the grandfondo, the neutral car can take her/him to the finish
- Photos of the participants (download for a fee)
- entering the drawing (with the start number) where we drawing cycling accessories in value of 6.500 Euros. The main raffle price is a Bianchi Sprint carbon road bike in value of 3.000 Euro. Rules
- Starting the granfondo is only possible with the official start number
- Participants can ride with any kind of bike, except recumbent bike. Time trial bar is forbidden!
- All participants can start on her/his own risk and must comply with hungarian traffic regulations
- Helmet use is mandatory during the whole grandondo
- Organizers assumes the responsibility for any accidents during the event and shall not be liable for any compensation
- Organizers reserve the right for route changes
- Granfondo will be on fully closed roads for every rider with the minimum average speed of 30 km/h. A special marked car will do the route with 30 km/g average pace. If the special car overlapping a rider, then she/he is out of the full road closure. The rider can continue until the finish on partly closed roads.
- Minimum participation age 14 years
Declaration of participant:
- I participate in the event on my own risk.
- If necessary, I agree to medical examination, I accept th doctors instructions.
- The field of participants will be accompanied by ambulances and emergency doctors over the entire distance. The first aid at the accident site is the sole responsibility of the rescue organisation and is free of charge for the participants.
- After the payment of registration fee, in case of cancellation the amount is not retransferable.
