You better not view Day Shift (horror movie)

Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco are the stars of the new vampire hunting movie "Day Shift". The movie is about a blue collar working dad who wants to provide for his child's happiness. But, his mundane job at the pool in San Fernando Valley serves as a front for hunting and killing Vampires as part of an international Union of vampiric hunters.

The premise sounds fun, but can director J.J. Perry deliver?

Jamie Foxx is seen shooting at a woman who turns out to have been a vampire in the opening scene of "Day Shift". This then leads to a wild fight between them. This kind of ragdoll physics makes the action scenes really pop. I think the movie does a better job than most action movies on Netflix or blockbusters. When you watch a scene like this, it is easy to remember the old saying "action speaks louder that words", and while I agree with the statement, I think the key to "Day Shift's" success is the way it uses dialogue and action to develop the characters and further the plot. Jamie Foxx's role as the vampire is finally defeated and he engages in a humorous exchange with his partner about how "he thought she was going to transform into a bat" or something. These are the moments that make "Day Shift", a movie unlike any other.

Day Shift was another film I enjoyed. It's (vampire movie review) a fun and light-hearted film that I found enjoyable. I found it entertaining and not too complicated. It featured great action and was unique. It had good humor and I found myself laughing out loud a fair bit. It did draw inspiration from some brilliant vampire films, such as Blade and Lost Boys. These films are also some my favorites. The acting was solid, the directing was brilliant and the cinematography quite impressive. Day Shift will satisfy those who are looking for something that is entertaining but not too serious. It's lots of fun.

Day Shift is a mixed movie. On one hand, there is a lot of fun action and some fun characters (the brothers and Seth), but on the other hand the villain was horrible and there are a lot of mediocre characters. There were scenes that could have been added but they didn't. Bud's neighbor acts like they are close friends even though she was only given 3 minutes of screen-time prior to the final scene. That helps the good characters shine even further. Overall, it is a good movie. However, it could have been much better.

The movie is worth the effort thanks to Snoop Dogg. I mean, who doesn't love Snoop Dogg? He's cool.
