Review - Day Shift

Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco are the stars of the new vampire hunting movie "Day Shift". The story is about a hardworking blue collar dad who wants to provide a decent life for his smart daughter. But his boring job cleaning pools in San Fernando Valley, California, is only a facade for his real income source, hunting and killing vampirics as part of the international Union of vampire hunters.

It sounds like a fun idea, but can J.J. Perry bring it to life?

The movie's first scene is an action sequence featuring Jamie Foxx firing a shotgun at a woman who turns into a vampire. The two of them then have a wild fight that turns out to be a great time. I felt that the movie had a lot of fun using this type of ragdoll physicality in its action sequences, making them pop in ways that other Netflix action movies and blockbusters don't.

Day Shift, is the movie that makes you feel so bad you're actually enjoying it. It's obvious what they were trying but it was so disappointing. The acting is wooden, the dialogue is stilted, and the plot is full of holes. But somehow, I found myself enjoying it. It could be that I am a sucker of vampire movies, or it could just be that I love watching bad movies. Day Shift was enjoyable. While it isn't a great movie, it's very entertaining. This is all I expect from a movie like that.

Day Shift was a mixed film. One side is that there is lots of action and some fun characters (the brother and Seth), and on the (vampire movies) other, the villain was terrible and there were many mediocre people. It appeared that there were some scenes that were not shown. Bud's neighbor acts like they're friends, even though before the final scene she maybe had 3 minutes of screen time. This makes the characters who are better than others shine even more. Overall, it is a good movie. However, it could have been much better.

Snoop Dogg makes this movie well worth it. Snoop Dogg is loved by everyone. He's the embodiment of cool.
