Record-low temperatures at altitude enough to cool New England and leave snow on Mount Washington over Father’s Day weekend

Record-breaking cold temperatures at high elevations corresponded with a cooled-down New England for Father’s Day weekend, while also providing the region’s highest peak with mid-June snow.

The record lows at elevation 5,000 feet left the summit of Mount Washington in New Hampshire with a glaze of ice and coating of snow, researchers at the Mount Washington Observatory said.
