Police early this morning continued to investigate a two-car collision that they said injured three people, one critically, late Thursday night on Washington Boulevard (Route 191) in Washington Township, Pa.

Township police officer Scott Miller said one of the vehicles, a Honda Civic, was torn in half upon impact with a Saturn Outlook SUV, which was driven by Joseph Bartosh, 67, of the 200 block of Ridge Road in Washington Township.

Miller said he could not release the name of the man driving the Honda until relatives had been notified.

He said the man, who appeared to be in his early 20s, was speeding north about 10 p.m. on Washington Boulevard. The driver lost control of his car on a curve, and the rear end of the Honda collided head-on with the southbound SUV, Miller said. The car's rear end flew about 100 feet into a driveway.

He said the Honda driver suffered very critical injuries and was flown to St. Luke’s Hospital in Fountain Hill.

Bartosh and his wife, Annette Bartosh, 67, were also taken to St. Luke's in separate ambulances, Miller said.

Assisting were Bangor police, Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast, several fire departments and emergency medical squads. Firefighters had to extricate both drivers from the wreckage, Miller said.
