The National Coalition for Mental Health Recovery (NCMHR) would like to invite you to a series of Advocacy calls that will take place the 2nd Monday of each month for the remainder of 2023 as a follow-up to the 2022 Alternatives Conference. During Alternatives we developed the following goals for Advocacy:
Goal 1: “Nothing about us without us” Promote peer support and the Office of Recovery through Congressional education; persuade the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to return to policies based on recovery.
Goal 2: Build up /consumer/survivor/ex-patient-run, advocacy, services and supports, through technical assistance at the state and local levels, with attention to sustainability of the nonprofits that administer these activities.
We are not limited to only discuss these goals, as things change throughout the year, so feel free to identify other goals and challenges within your community that you feel as important.
The first meeting will be held February the 13th at 2PM Eastern Time, 1PM Central Time and 11AM Pacific Time. Meeting times will alternate between midday and evenings to maximize participation.
Anthony Fox will facilitate the meeting, and Daniel Fisher and Kevin Fitts will co-lead the meeting. Other NCMHR Board members may also attend.
