Record heat persists in West as 188 million surge into above-average warmth on Wednesday

For some 188 million people, Wednesday's high temperatures are expected to be around 10-20 degrees above average, and record-high temperatures are also likely for many major cities again.

PHOENIX – A building ridge of high pressure across the West is ushering in not only dry conditions but also much warmer air, the FOX Forecast Center said.

For some 188 million people, Wednesday's high temperatures are expected to be around 10-20 degrees above average, and record-high temperatures are also likely for many major cities again.

This includes areas such as Portland, Oregon, which could see its second record high in a row. Tuesday's high was 80 degrees, making it the first 80-degree day of the year.
